Once Human is finally here, and it has surpassed all our expectations for a post-apocalyptic survival-crafting game. There are plenty of fun activities like farming, fishing, and gathering resources to craft unique items that will keep you busy for quite some time. However, we didn't really expect the side quests to be so detailed, as most of our other games had simple fetch and kill quests. In this regard, the Unfinished Expedition is probably the hardest Once Human early-game quest that forced us to scratch our heads.

This quest starts off pretty simple, you get a mysterious quest journal from an abandoned lighthouse and now you must find three important research documents to complete the quest. However, things turn out pretty serious as you go to fetch the second and third research journals, which are locked behind challenging puzzles. So, if you are stuck on this particular quest, well, you are not alone. Therefore, in this article, we will provide a complete Once Human Unfinished Expedition walkthrough to help you progress further in the main story, let's get started:

Once Human: Unfinished Expedition Walkthrough

The Unfinished Expedition in Once Human may be one of the toughest missions, but it doesn't really have hard prerequisites like many others. All you need to do is to progress through the main story, completing quests, until you finally meet Maxie in Meyer's Market. If you haven't met him already, don't worry; just keep playing, and you will eventually meet him like we did after like 3 hours in the game. Apart from that, there are no other requirements to unlock this side quest. However, you will be facing several level 17+ Rosetta troops and one Elite during this quest, so prepare however you, please.

How to Start

Once you meet Maxim, start at Meyer's Market and head southeast until you reach a large lighthouse with an abandoned car in front of it. If you are having trouble finding this location, here are the exact coordinates to Denise Cooper's Journal (6648, -9999). Next, climb the lighthouse and proceed to the main hall to find the journal notes just before the balcony. Finally, this marks the beginning of the Unfinished Expedition side quest, so you must find and retrieve the three research documents to complete the quest.

Step 1: Find the Environmental Security Records

Environmental

Right after you interact with Denise's Journal, you will see three quest markers on the screen. These are the locations you must visit to find and retrieve all research records. While you can go to the marked locations in any order, we suggest that you start with the easiest one, which is also the closest to the lighthouse.

To get the first research document, jump down from the balcony of the lighthouse and use your Glider to get to the docks. Next, fight off all Rosetta enemies (use the sniper) and climb the stripped watchtower at the end of the docks. Finally, jump down from the tower toward the partially sunken ship and use your Glider to safely land on the main deck. Here, you will find the Environmental Security Records lying on the ground, pretty straightforward, right?

Step 2: Find the Army Records

Army Record

Once you find the first research document, head back to the stripped tower to get a better look at the remaining objectives. From here, you can go after either of the quest markers and complete the quest objectives in any order. However, we are starting with the easier ones, so we recommend that you push your way forward to the Army Base. You can easily find this base by going toward the farthest quest marker.

Next, clear all the Rosetta enemies in the area (again, we recommend a ranged rifle). Here, you will get a Rosetta V1 Access Card, but it has nothing to do with the objectives. Still, you can use this card to open locked doors inside the base to get exquisite loot items. If you look around near the large satellite station, you will find a half-completed picture of one of the buildings.

Fortunately, you can easily solve this picture puzzle (it's pretty much the same as billboard puzzles) to open the secret entrance. All you need to do is take a few steps back while standing near the green container and slowly move the camera until both halves of the pictures are perfectly aligned, revealing a secret door after the screen goes black for a few seconds. Finally, go inside the room and take a quick scan to find the Army Records on one of the tables on your right.

Step 3: Find the Medical Records

Medical Record

For the third research document in Unfinished Expedition, you must head to the middle quest marker. This journal is locked inside a hidden medical facility, west of the Rosetta Army Base. Once you arrive at the hospital, you will find that its main door is locked, and the mission marker is pointing to something inside the building.

The only problem is that this glass door requires the Rosetta V2 Access Card, and there are no nearby enemies to drop it. Don't worry; if you turn right and follow the rough path, you will eventually reach a small helipad in the area. Next, find and defeat the Rosetta Elite Boss to get your V2 Access Card. This Ironman carried a large shield that deflected all bullets from the torso, so we managed to defeat him by aiming for headshots. Oh, and if you can't find the enemy, simply fast-travel to another location and get back to respawn and fight him.

Once you get your V2 Access Card, head back to the hospital and go directly to the second floor by taking the stairs. Here, you will find only 1 Rosetta enemy behind the hidden corridor (use your revolver for close range). After clearing the area, approach the marker and interact with it to start the ring puzzle. This next puzzle is a bit time-consuming as it is randomly generated for every player. The best way to solve this puzzle is to start with the outer rings and gradually make your way to the inner rings, as moving one ring will move all smaller ones.

Finally, interact with the table again to get your Medical Records, the final piece of the journal for completing the Unfinished Expedition quest in Once Human.

How to Complete Unfinished Expedition?

How to Complete

Now that you have all three of the lost research journals, all that's left to do is take them back to the base camp and collect your rewards. Simply head back to the Meyer's Market and search for either Clair or Meyer, who usually spawn near the workshop during the daytime. Finally, hand over the research documents to either NPCs to get your mission rewards and complete the Unfinished Expedition quest.

Conclusion

That's about everything you need to know to complete the Unfished Expedition quest in Once Human. Apparently, defeating the Elite Rosetta Ironman is crucial to opening the hospital and retrieving the Medical Records. Other than that, you won't have any trouble as long as you stick to our walkthrough. Make sure to check out our other articles; who knows, maybe you will find something useful there.
