Once Human Team Editor

Once Human starts off slow with basic crafting projects that you can easily complete with common resources. However, things take a serious turn as you progress through the character levels and complete main story quests, and now you must harvest a ton of rare resources to complete any further projects. If you have been playing the game for a while, you will probably stumble upon recipes exclusively asking for Platinum Crystal, which is nowhere to be found in the early regions.

Adding to the troubles, the game doesn't really guide you to these exquisite materials unless you focus on the main quests. So, how to get Platinum Crystal in Once Human? Well, in this article, we will discuss the best ways to farm Platinum Crystals, their exact locations, and how to use them, let's start:

Blogs How to Get Platinum Crystal in Once Human?

Platinum Crystal in Once Human is a rare crafting material used to complete late-game projects. You will eventually need this resource to build the Advanced Supplies Workbench and many other Tier V weapon upgrades. Unfortunately, it is only available in Red Sands, a late-game region that you can only access at character level 41+. However, that's not the end of the world, as you can still explore other regions and get a handful of Platinum Crystals after many hours of grinding. Here are the best ways to farm Platinum Crystals in Once Human so that you never get out of stock:

Blogs Focus on Main Quests

Main Quest

Once Human is based on an orderly progression system that guides you throughout the playthrough whenever you need higher-tier materials. For example, you will start using the Wish Machine at around character level 20, and the game explains its basics at level 19 after completing Lowe's questline. The same is the case with Platinum Crystals; you will start using it in crafting recipes around level 42, and the game asks you to activate Rift Anchors at level 41. Therefore, it is imperative to focus on the main story quests until you unlock the quests, Monoliths, and bosses within the Red Sands region.

Oh, and you can still explore this endgame region on day one, but it's not really worth the effort as you won't need the Platinum Crystals anyway. So, the best practice is to focus on the main quests and tasks until you reach character level 41 and officially unlock the Red Sands region.

Blogs Loot Collection Chests

Loot Crates

Unfortunately, you can't mine Platinum Crystals in the same way as Silver Ores or any other natural resources. So, the only guaranteed way to get your hands on this rare resource is to search the high-reward collection chests. While your chances of dropping Platinum Crystals are pretty slim elsewhere, it is a common drop from the chests in the Blackfell region. So, if you have already unlocked the Red Sands region, we suggest that you go on a rampage and loot every crate within your reach.

Personally, we got our hands on around 30x Platinum Crystals within just one hour of grinding those crates. Oh, and if you completely deplete an area, you can always refresh by waiting around for 24 hours in-game time or 4 hours in the real world. After this resetting period, feel free to return and loot all the crates for a second time. You can keep repeating this process until you are satisfied with your gains. While these Platinum Crystal dropping crates appear everywhere in the Red Sands region, here are the best places with the highest dropping rate:

  • Strongholds in Blackfell
  • Blackfell Oil Fields
  • Securement Silo — Theta

Locations

Apart from these key locations, feel free to explore any place and loot every crate if you aren't satisfied with your loot output.

Blogs Activate Rift Anchors

Rift Anchor

Now comes the guaranteed way to drop Platinum Crystals whenever you get out of your comfort zone. Basically, you can drop 4x Platinum Crystal by activating the Rift Anchors within the Red Sands region. These Anchors are scattered throughout this region, so you are bound to activate quite a few of them on each run. The only downside is that you will get ambushed by waves of enemy troops whenever you activate the Anchor, pretty much the same concept as Stardust Resonant Filter Purifications.

So, make sure to stock up your supplies, grab the best weapons, and bring your favourite Combat Deviants whenever you go out. From our experience, we managed to activate around 10 Rift Anchors, yielding 40x Platinum Crystals from just a single run. In short, if you try both these methods and keep at it regularly, you will have enough Platinum to share with your buddies.

Blogs How to Fix "No Access to Rift Anchor" in Once Human?

As mentioned earlier, you can explore the Red Sands region or any other region in the game world, regardless of your character level. However, doing so will block you from the inaccessible quests, bosses, resources, and even mechanisms that you are supposed to tackle later on. For instance, if you stumble upon a Rift Anchor during the early or even mid-game phase, you will get the following error, "No Access to Rift Anchor."

The main reason why you are getting this error is that you aren't supposed to find the Anchors yet, let alone activate them. So, the only way to resolve this error is to keep playing the main story quests until you unlock the "Activate the Rift Anchor" task at around character level 41. Also, if you have already fulfilled this requirement, then try defeating the boss of the last Monolith before trying again.

Blogs How to Use Platinum Crystals in Once Human?

Okay, so you have acquired more Platinum Crystals than you expected in the first place by following our methods. So, you are probably sitting on top of your pile of Crystals, wondering what to do with them. To make it short and simple, you will need Platinum Crystals to craft the Advanced Supplies Workbench and a couple of Tier V weapon upgrades. However, it isn't as important as Gold Ores or even Acid, so you are better off with just a handful of this resource. Here are the best ways to use your excess Platinum Crystals:

  • Craft Advanced Supplies Workbench: You will need this workbench to craft better items, Tier V upgrades, and Legendary-grade weapons. Furthermore, most Memetics Specializations also require an Advanced Workbench. In short, building this station opens up a whole new world of crafting projects.
  • Tier V Upgrades: You will be facing higher-level enemies and Elites as soon as you enter the Red Sands region. So, the only way to defeat them and all other bosses is to acquire better weapons and equipment and further improve them with Tier V upgrades; that's when Platinum Crystals come into play.
  • Sell Them: Everyone in the post-apocalyptic world knows how rare the Platinum Crystals are, so why not make a profit? You can either sell your excess Crystals or use them to craft better resources and sell them at even higher prices to any nearby merchants in the game world.

Blogs Conclusion

There you have it; if you follow our methods and keep up the grinding work, you will end up with more Platinum Crystals than you need for all your crafting recipes. Just keep in mind you must constantly farm the resource and reset the world by waiting for 24 in-game hours before returning to the area. Hopefully, you got all your answers in our little guide, don't forget to check out the rest of the website for more such guides.
