Dragon Age: The Veilguard — All 15 Fen’Harel Altars Locations [Updated Guide]
Thedas is a mysterious world filled with many powerful anonymities waiting to be explored by the Rook. Dragon Age: The Veilguard lays great emphasis on exploration and generously rewards the players who spend a lot of time uncovering these mysteries. In this regard, the Fen'Harel Altars are probably the most beneficial activities that players can complete to earn skill points. Basically, Solas is known and worshiped by many names in Thedas, Fen'Harel being the most popular.
There are 15 shrines or statues dedicated to Solas across the open world. Players can interact with these statues and then find their corresponding smaller wolf statues to earn 1x Skill Point for each. You can then consume these points to unlock some of the best skills for every class, regardless of your build. However, all of these statues are well-hidden in plain sight, making it nearly impossible to find them on your own. Therefore, we will provide a list of all Fen'Harel Altars in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, how to find them, and the best strategy to collect the small wolf statues, let's start:
All 15 Fen'Harel Altars Locations in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
There are two types of Altars or statues in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The Fen'Harel Altars grant you 1 Skill Point per Statue after you find its smaller Wolf. The second is the Elven or Evanuris Altars that grant +100 HP per Statue. However, both these statues are distinctive in every way possible, so you can't get confused between them.
Speaking of the first type, there are 15 Fen'Harel Altars spread across the land of Thedes in the new Dragon Age. In order to receive your Skill Points, you must first use visual cues and your main map to track down these statues. Once you find a statue, interact with it, and it will turn its face in a random direction. Next, you must head in that direction, search for a glowing object, and then plan your route to reach that location. Finally, interact with the glowing item to drop a small wolf statue and collect your Skill Point before moving on to the next statue location.
As the Dragon Age: Veilguard Fen'Harel Altars are located in almost every unlockable region, we have broken down our guide region-wise. This way, you can collect all statues from one location, complete your tasks, and then look for more statues in the next region until you find them all.
All Fen’Harel Altars in Arlathan Forest
Altar #1: Tainted Woods
The first Fen'Harel Altar in Arlathan Forest can be found while exploring the Tainted Woods in the northeastern forest. Once you activate both the beacons in the area, go west (right side) until you find a barricade with a red explosive barrel on top of it. Next, either climb the ledges to reach the barrel or simply use any Ranged Attack to reveal the Altar from behind the wall. The Wolf Statue will turn right, so follow the small path through the woods to find the small Wolf and a treasure chest behind it.
Altar #2: Unnamed Building
This next Altar is accessible after completing either Harding's: An Unfamiliar Sense or Bellara's: Echoes of the Past personal quests. Once you complete the quests, head to the Shadowy Grove and enter through the Tunnel to find the Altar on your right side. Next, go downstairs and then take a right to go around the path until you reach the back of the Tower Ruins. Finally, start ledging on the Broken Tower and then turn left to find the Glowing Wolf Statue on the edge of the cliff.
Altar #3: Mystic Tower
This third Altar is accessible during the Magic of the Ancients quest. Once you reach the Jagged Ruins, use the Zipline to reach the Mystic Tower. Next, solve the light beam puzzle (rotate the pedestal until the beam hits the crystal on the opposite) to open the bridge to the Tower. Go across the bridge, enter the Tower, and go through the small arch on your right to find the Fen'Harel Altar. For the smaller Wolf Statue, exit the room and enter the second archway. Here, you must carefully jump down the ledges four times and then follow the left path to reach the Statue.
All Fen'Harel Altars in Crossroads
There are 5 Fen'Harel Altars in the Crossroads region of the game. You will unlock this region after completing The Singing Blade main story quest. We recommend that you go after these Altars in the prescribed order to avoid unnecessary detours.
Altar #1: Converged City Slope
Right after you defeat The Champion during the Into the Crossroads quest, go a bit north to reach the main city district. Next, climb the yellow ladder and then take a sharp right to end up on the city slopes. You will find the Altar right after the first curve along the main path. Oh, and you don't need to go too far to find the small Wolf Statue. Just turn around and go a few paces to find the Statue on top of the small rock platform.
Altar #2: Lost Ages Arena
For this next Altar, you must first complete the Gate of Lost Ages quest. Once you defeat Quyn, the Sparkwielder in Dock Town, return to the Converged City and use the Champion's Essence to unlock the sealed door. Next, destroy all the red crystals and defeat all remaining enemies. Finally, follow the main path to the battle arena and climb the ladder to find the Altar atop a small staircase. Once you activate the Wolf Statue, retrace your steps back to the large staircase and then activate the floating platforms with your ability. Finally, turn around, climb the large ladder, and cross the floating platforms to find the Small Wolf Statue on the opposite side of the main Altar.
Altar #3: Elvhenan's Haven
We found this next Fen'Harel Altar to be particularly a tricky one. While you can directly access the main Altar, the Small Wolf Statuette requires some brainstorming. In order to solve the Crossroads Bridge Puzzle, you must first acquire the Champion's Essence from the Arlathan Forest. Next, go northwest and rotate the nearby statues until they all face each other. This will, in turn, summon a bridge that you can cross to reach the Small Wolf Statue on the Floating Island. Oh, and we also found a Regrets of the Dread Wolf Statuette here.
Altar #4: Heights of Athim
The fastest route to this next Altar is to fast travel to the southernmost Beacon and go east until you find some ruined wooden shacks. You will find the Fen'Harel Altar right between the two ruins. Next, turn around and go around the large cliff behind (even though the Statue points to the cliff's edge). Use the ledges to climb the cliff and then Zipline across the gap to reach the other side. Finally, turn right to find the little Statuette right next to the Zipline.
Altar #5: Heights of Athim
For this final Altar in the Crossroads region, open Map Level 4 and look at the easternmost corner of the map. Fortunately, this area isn't too big, so you can't miss the Altar unless you are playing with your eyes closed. The easiest way to reach this Altar is to make your way to the top of the Castle Courtyard by using the grand staircase. Once you activate the Altar, look down from the edge to find the Statuette right across the main Wolf. Next, carefully jump down on the rooftop and use the Zipline to reach the Statuette. Heads up! We were ambushed by a large group of enemies right next to the wooden shed.
All Fen'Harel Altars in Dock Town
There are only two Fen'Harel Altars in Dock Town. The good news is that you can find both of them right after unlocking the region. So, the Lost Gate in Crossroads can wait until you collect these two additional Skill Points.
Altar #1: Andraste's Watch
We recommend that you attempt this Altar after clearing the first 4 Altars in Crossroad. Oh, and don't forget to master how to perform Takedowns; it will be very useful for this one. You can find this next Statue right next to the Beacon located in the northernmost part of the region. Activating the Beacon will summon a bridge and follow it down to the very bottom. You will know you are on the right path if you find a Treasure Chest just above the ground level.
Finally, go left on the ground level to collect the Small Wolf Statuette. Beware! This pit is the battle arena for the Darkspawn Champion boss, which starts almost immediately after you collect the Skill Point.
Altar #2: The Seclusion
This next Fen'Harel Altar can be a tricky one if you don't pay attention to the environmental changes. You can find it on Map Level 4 in the northernmost corner of the map during the Pinnacle of Its Kind quest. You can easily find the Altar by going inside the only building in the area and following the path to the very bottom. Once you reach the grand waterfall, take a right and the Altar is waiting for you just behind the door (open it with the dagger).
You will notice that activating the Statue breaks a seal behind it, opening the path to the staircase. Simply go upstairs and collect the floating crystal near the barricade. Next, take the crystal and place it on the pedestal (small pyramid) near the waters to activate a nearby bridge with the light beam. Finally, go across the bridge and turn slightly right to collect the Small Wolf Figurine.
All Fen’Harel Altars in Rivain Coast
Much like the Altars in Dock Town, the Rivain Coast region also hides only two Fen'Harel Altars. The good news? Well, they are literally located right next to each other, so you can forget about fast travel for this part. However, the icon doesn't pop up on the map until you explore the area for a while, so get to it ASAP.
Altar #1: Winding Shoreline
The first Fen'Harel Altar in Dragon Age: The Veilguard Rivain Coast is located right where you first enter the region. As soon as you are done recruiting Taash, head to the marked location and use your Stone Song ability to bring out the ledge. Next, climb up the ledge and blow up the wall by hitting the barrel with a Ranged Attack. However, we suggest that you use your best companion for the job (Taash) to blow it up in style. Once you breach the wall, turn right and go upstairs to find the Wolf Statue.
Next, trace your steps back to the breached wall and, this time, go straight to the beach area. Keep going around the fort to find the Small Wolf Statuette. Beware, we encountered around 4 zombies near the stone, so you best be prepared for a small skirmish.
Altar #2: Clifftops
The second Wolf Altar is in pretty much the same location as the first one. However, you can't see it directly even if you mark it on the map. Instead, go around the Clifftops and look for rock ledges. Next, keep climbing to the very top to find the Altar overlooking the valley. The Smaller Statue is directly in front of the main Altar, but don't try to jump, as it will respawn you to the top. Instead, make your way to the bottom of the cliff and then go past the only tree towards the opposite cliff. Finally, ignite the fire brazier and jump down the ledge to find the Wolf Statuette near the waterfall.
All Fen'Harel Altars in Hossberg Wetlands
There are two Wolf Altars in the Hossberg Wetlands region. However, you can only access the first one early on in the area. For the second Altar, you must first complete the regional quests for Hossberg Wetlands and unlock the Lost Village.
Altar #1: Flooded Farmlands
The first Altar is just east of the main city, Lavendel. You will explore this area during the first Wetlands quest; the Statue rests in a small colored pond right across the bridge, so you can't miss it. As for the Spectral Wolf, turn around and go towards the nearest Beacon. Next, turn right and climb on the nearby ledge, and then go to the rooftop of the wooden house to get your Skill Point.
Altar #2: Lost Village
The second Altar appears in the western portion of Hossberg Wetlands, just southeast of the Lost Village Beacon. You will unlock this region after completing the regional quests, so don't waste your time. However, once you reach the Lost Village, immediately turn right and enter the ruined castle. Next, keep following the curved pathways through three doors to find the Wolf Statue. As for the Spectral Wolf, turn around and follow the second curved path through the large hole in the wall. Finally, keep going and then climb the ledge after the gap to find it.
All Fen’Harel Altars in Treviso
There is only one Fen'Harel Altar in Treviso Canals, located southeast of the Heart and Central Beacon. You can easily find it on Map Level 1; just follow the gardens and cross the bridge to find the Wolf Altar. Next, turn around and go towards the large gate; turn left just past the large barrels with red circles. Finally, break the wooden crates and junk to reveal the Spectral Wolf.
Conclusion
That sums up our list of all Fen'Harel Altars in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, how to find them, and the best possible route. If you keep at it, you will unlock the No Real Gods achievement in no time. Also, don't forget to note which way the large Wolf Statue faces after activation; it will give you directions on how to plan your route.
