Once Human: All New Deviants and How to Get Them? —The Way of the Winter
Once Human: The Way of the Winter Scenario is finally here, and with it came many new things. From all new regions to the Temperature mechanics, it seems like this game is doing a great job of meeting players’ demands. Among the new stuff, players can now find and capture 7 new Deviants and add them to their dream house. This new selection contains 3x new Territory Deviants, 3x Combat Deviants, and only 1x Gadget Type Deviants.
Players can capture these new buddies the same way as before, i.e., completing quests, defeating Rift entities, and exploring the wilderness. Moreover, almost all of these new Deviants are extremely important to survive in the blazing heat and freezing cold zones. Therefore, in this article, we will guide you about all new Deviants in Once Human Way of the Winter, their benefits, and how to get them, let’s start:

Blogs All New Deviants in Once Human Way of the Winter
The Way of the Winter has introduced 7 new Deviations, or Deviants for short, in its Once Human PvE Scenario. Most of these Deviants are there to support your survival and combat needs in both extreme cold and extreme hot conditions. So, if you really wish to make a living in this new world, capturing all of these new Deviants is extremely important. Furthermore, some of these new beasts will help defend your territory during Chaosium purification. Here is a list of all new Deviants, their uses, and how to get them:
Blogs New Combat Type Deviants
The patch notes include 3x new Combat Type Deviants in Once Human. You can take these minions along on your dangerous quests to aid in the combat.
Blogs Snowsprite
Snowsprite is a deadly Combat Deviant that exploits the temperature mechanism in Once Human. This little beast produces fragile ice crystals and launches them to multiple nearby enemies, inflicting Freeze DMG. Furthermore, these crystals shatter on contact to inflict even more physical damage. However, this Deviant is mainly suitable for combat within the Cold Zones.
Mood Enhancers:
- Cold Environment
- Green Light
- Blue Light
How to Get Snowsprite?
You can capture the Snowsprite Deviant from the Onyx Tundra during the Deviation: Snowsprite Quest. During the quest, return to the generators after acquiring the Keycard and melt down the nearby ice block to reveal a hidden room; you will find the Deviant in this room. However, you will only get this quest after speaking to Lowe in Camp Igloo after completing the Deviation Expert in the North side quest.
Blogs Invincible Sun
Much like the Snowsprite, the Invincible Sun rules the Scorching Hot Zones in the new Once Human season. This Deviant launches deadly sun rays at nearby enemies that implode on contact and inflict Burn Damage. So, it is a good idea to bring this one to your quests within the Hot Zones. Lastly, you can further enhance the damage to quickly down any enemy with throwables like Molotov Cocktails.
Mood Enhancers:
- Red Light
- Warm Environment
- Toys
How to Get Invincible Sun?
There is a chance to capture the Invincible Sun after clearing the Securement Silo–Delta and defeating Party Kin Hearst. You can find this activity during or after The Fragile Peace Quest, which is just southeast of the main Onyx Tundra region.
Blogs Snapshot
As the name suggests, Snapshot constantly captures photographs of your nearby enemies and then curses them with deadly black magic spells. Well, at least, that’s the only way to explain how it increases the physical DMG output of any weapon on photographed enemies.
Mood Enhancers:
- Blue Light
- Toys
- Red Light
How to Get Snapshot?
Currently, the only way to capture the Snapshot Deviant is to complete the level 20 Tundra Monolith activity in the southwestern Onyx Tundra region and defeat the Rift Entity. However, we recommend that you attempt this Monolith alone as its difficulty settings scale with the number of players.
Blogs New Territory Type Deviants
Just like Combat Deviants, we got 3x new Territory Type Deviants to help us defend and maintain our territories. These types of Deviations repair damaged structures, support other projects and defend your house against any intruders.
Blogs Hydronaut Fish
Hydronaut Fish is the second fish-type Deviation in Once Human after Electric Eel. This fish collects seawater from nearby sources and purifies them at your water treatment facilities to give fresh bottled water. Moreover, it will also sometimes collect Fish and store them for your recipes.
Mood Enhancers:
- Blue Light
- Flowers
- Toys
- Fish Tanks
How to Get Hydronaut Fish?
The only guaranteed way to capture this Deviation is to complete the Deviation: Hydronaut Fish quest for Lowe in Whalebone. Oh, and there are no prerequisites for this Deviant quest and you can get it as soon as you reach character level 3.
To complete this quest, simply speak to the Hydronaut Fish, capture any Fish, and place it in a tank in your territory before asking the Hydronaut Fish to join your cause.
Blogs Tar Pudding
If you remember from our Once Human Oil Farming Guide, refining Crude Oil used to be a time-consuming task. Fortunately, the Devs heard our calls and gave us the Tar Pudding Deviant to automate our farm. This Deviant collects Crude Oil from nearby sources and operates at your Oil Refining Facilities to yield Portable Bottled Fuel.
Mood Enhancers:
- Blue Light
- Cold Environment
How to Get Tar Pudding?
The guaranteed way to capture Tar Pudding in Once Human is to complete the Deviation Quest for Lowe in Ember Strand. However, this region is currently locked and will become accessible during Phase 2 of Way of the Winter.
In the meantime, you can try your luck at completing the Avalanche Monolith in Vena Fjord, as there is a slight chance to randomly spot the Tar Pudding Deviation there. Oh, and this Monolith is only recommended for level 25 to 30 players due to its immense difficulty settings.
Blogs Gazocchio
Our new friend Gazocchio is a hybrid Territory and Gadget Type Deviant in Once Human. Gazocchio guards your territory against all intruders and hits them with radioactive light to paralyze them. Furthermore, it also randomly produces the Gazocchio tool that you can use to remove the Shadow status effect from Duskened enemies to remove their invisibility for a short time.
Mood Enhancers:
- Blue Light
- 5W Electricity
- Flowers
- Toys
How to Get Gazocchio?
The only way to capture Gazocchio is to complete the Deviation: Gazocchio Quest in Vena Fjord for Lowe. You will get this quest from Lowe in the Whalebone region. During this quest, look for Gazocchio in the Mr. Wish Octopus Cave and persuade him to join your cause.
Also, there is a random chance to drop Gazocchio by defeating the Shadow enemies in the Wish Land – West region.
Blogs New Gadget Type Deviants
Unfortunately, we only got 1x new Gadget Type Deviant in the new Once Human update. If you have been playing since the first season, you will already know their uses. As for the new players, Gadget Type Deviants are the ones that passively generate rare ingredients that you can’t find anywhere else in the game. Maybe we will get more Gadget Type Deviants in future updates within this current season (we will update the list then).
Blogs Ice Pot (Ice Bottle)
Coming on to our only true Gadget Type Deviant in the Way of the Winter, Ice Pot, formerly known as Ice Bottle. This special Deviation stays in its Isolated Securement Unit and produces Sticky Ice Crystals. You can use this tactical ingredient to form Large Ice Cubes at any location, and it even attaches to other Ice Cubes.
Mood Enhancers:
- Blue Light
- Cold Environment
How to Get Ice Pot (Ice Bottle)?
Currently, the only known way to capture the Ice Pot Deviation is to complete the Deviation: Ice Pot Quest for Lowe in Whalebone. During the quest, Lowe asks you to investigate the mysterious cold phenomenon in Fiskur Harbor. Simply take a detour from the main path and follow the ice formation near the Piet. Finally, glide off to the large barge just offshore and use Molotov Cocktails or Torch to melt the ice and reveal the Ice Pot Deviation.
Blogs Conclusion
That’s about everything you need to know about all new Deviants in the Once Human Way of the Winter Scenario. Once you capture a Deviation, simply place it in its Isolated Securement Unit to access its abilities. Hopefully, these units will help you survive in the extreme temperatures and gain an upper hand over your enemies. We request that you check out our other blogs, as we are constantly uploading new guides. Happy Hunting!
