Once Human: How to Get Deviated Plants? [Wheat, Mushroom, and everything else]

Time

Once Human Team Editor

A big portion of your life in Once Human comprises of building your base, upgrading your weapons, and scavenging food items from the wild to survive. However, there comes a time when you start cooking your own food to gain extra buffs; that’s when you really start thriving in the post-apocalyptic world. While most cooking recipes require common resources that you can find almost anywhere, the higher-tier ones are rather demanding.

For example, you can cook a Bacon Burger to get the One-Hit mining buff, but it requires a Deviated Onion to complete. There are many other similar Legendary recipes in Once Human that you can unlock through Memetics, but most of them require Deviated Crops. The only problem is that they only drop through RNG, but you can use a few methods to increase your odds. Therefore, in this article, we will talk about how to get Deviated Plants in Once Human and all the methods to increase your chances, let’s start:

Blogs What are Deviated Plants in Once Human?

What are Deviated

Before we dive into the whole Deviated Plants, and how to grow them system, it would be best to give you a glimpse of the fundamentals. Deviated Plants or Crops are the special, mutated versions of various crops in Once Human. These special crops get a pinkish fume when they mature, they don’t essentially decay over time, and you can use them to cook Legendary recipes. Lastly, the regular crops have a small chance to mutate both in the wild, and inside your base camp farm, so your chance of getting one purely depends on luck and how much you farm each type of plant.

Fortunately, you can easily remedy this RNG problem by adding a few extra steps to your already time-consuming endeavors.

Blogs How to Get Deviated Plants in Once Human?

Now that you know what you are looking for, it is time to discuss all the remedies to get Deviated Wheat, Onions, Aloe vera, and all other crops. Keep in mind that all these methods are mere remedies, and they don’t guarantee success every time. Instead, these methods will only increase your chances of dropping each type of plant, let’s get started:

Blogs Method 1: Specialized Fertilizers

Method 1

This first method significantly increases your odds of dropping a Deviated Crop from almost any plant box. However, it is also the most expensive one and requires some side-grinding to stock up the necessary items. Basically, you can get up to 80% guaranteed Deviated drop from each farmland by adding a specialized fertilizer to the box. However, before we get into the recipes, you must first unlock everything under the plantation tab until you unlock the Fertilizer III node. Next, you can visit any Supply Workbench to craft the Mutation Boost Fertilizer with the following recipe:

  • 30x Stardust Source
  • 5x Mushroom
  • 3x Fertilizer

Notice how the recipe casually mentions 30x Stardust Source? If you have been playing the game for a while, you probably already know how hard it is to get a handful of these rare drops through mining. Hell, it’s even rarer than Gold and Silver Ores combined. Apart from that, you can easily harvest mushrooms from the Mushroom Cave (use Harvesting Sickle Memetics Specialization, if you can). In any case, we’d only recommend this method if you have already maxed out your gear and have no further need of the Stardust Source.

Improved Fertilze

Alternatively, there is another Special Fertilizer recipe that’s a bit on the cheap side and significantly boosts the Deviated drop rate. However, it requires some serious grinding to collect so many Deviated Mushrooms, and you can only get the recipe from Memetics Specializations. Still, if you are interested in it, you can craft the Improved Compound Fertilizer to significantly increase your Deviated Crop yield:

  • 10x Fertilizer
  • 3x Deviated Mushroom

Overall, we suggest that you should skip this method unless you have already maxed out on everything else. Otherwise, it’d be best to grow plenty of crops for each plant and regularly harvest them to increase your chances.

Blogs Method 2: Use Deviants

Method 2

While finding Deviated Crops is a game of luck and requires serious dedication, you can take help from your captured Territory Type Deviants. Yes, the same cute fellows who defend your territory, repair the structures and go out to collect special ingredients. Certain Deviants can significantly increase your Deviated Crop harvest, and they are rather easy to capture, at least easier than collecting Stardust Source (still on my mind). Therefore, you should add the following Deviants to your base (multiple copies if possible) to passively generate Deviated Crops while you are busy completing other tasks:

  • Buzzy Bee: We can’t emphasize this enough; the more Buzzy Bees you have in your base, the higher your chances of dropping Mutated Plants are. Basically, these Deviants reside near your farmland and mutate your plants to their Deviated versions.
  • Growshroom: Another important Deviant for farming in Once Human is the Growshroom. This Deviant will automatically sow seeds, harvest the crops, and safely place them in a chest for you to retrieve later on. So, we suggest that every farm should have at least one Growshroom to automate the Deviated Plant farming. Furthermore, the Growshroom Deviant also increases the chance of plant mutation, just like Buzzy Bee.

Rain Man: Lastly, if you are aiming for an automated Deviated Plant farm, you should definitely go after the Rain Man Deviant. This Territory type Deviant will automatically water the crops and keep them happy while you are away.

Growshroom

Just make sure to collect all three Deviants and place their Securement Units in the same room to increase your yield. If you keep at it, you will always have a large stash of Deviated Plants in your base. Oh, and don’t forget to keep your Deviants happy, as it is directly linked to their abilities.

Blogs Method 3: Collect from the Wild

Method 3

This final method is probably too obvious and doesn’t really qualify as a guaranteed technique. Basically, almost every growable crop in Once Human spawns in the wild, even though in special locations. There are definitely more wild crops in the game than you can ever grow within your base. So, the rule of thumb is that more crops mean a higher chance of mutation and Deviated Plants.

Therefore, you can just cut the chase and go outside to collect your favorite crops. Once you find a plant’s static spawn location, collect everything and refresh the area. Keep repeating this process until you find your desired Deviated Plant. However, this method is the least reliable one and may even take an entire day to collect a handful of Mutated Crops. Oh, and you can easily identify the Deviated Plants with their unique Pink Aura, as shown in the image.

Blogs Conclusion

To sum it up, certain Legendary food recipes can grant various buffs for a limited time, but almost all of them require at least one Deviated Plant as the main ingredient. The only problem is that you can only drop these special crops by an RNG system. However, there are certain remedies that you can try to increase your odds. Hopefully, this article has taught you everything about how to get Deviated Plants in Once Human.
