Diablo 4 Team Editor

Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred is coming this October with a promise to add loads of new content to the game. While the developers have been quite secretive about the storyline, they have just revealed the much-needed details about the Spiritborn Class, and we are super excited about it.

Basically, the Spiritborns are the natives of the Nahatu Jungle, and they are trained to survive its harshness. From what we saw in the Class Debut trailer, the new Class is extremely versatile and will offer value to all playing styles. If you want to experience the story of Maphisto with this new character or just want to plan your next build, this Diablo 4 Spiritborn Class Guide will be a handy resource indeed for you, let's start:

Blogs Diablo IV: Spiritborn Class Overview

Class Overview

Honesty, we have been eagerly waiting for the sixth, mysterious Diablo 4 class even before we received the base game. However, most of us were expecting an improved Paladin class with a holy touch. As a result, the Class Debut trailer didn't get as much attention at first.

However, as Blizzard began to shed some light on their new class plans, the Spiritborn has truly become a fan favorite for many reasons.

This sixth Diablo IV class is the master of the jungle with a PhD in gorilla warfare. Basically, these special warriors are brought up from a young age with the sole purpose of protecting the guiding spirits. As a result, this Class is mainly based on speed and agility with an interesting touch of animal spirits. In other words, Spiritborn is perhaps the most versatile Class in Diablo 4 that you can use for hundreds of possible character builds.

Blogs Spiritborn Gear

Gear

The new Spiritborn Class comes with the same gear slots as Druids. You can use your equipment slot for armor, helms, gloves, rings, amulets, and boots. Moreover, there is no limitation to which armor sets you can assign in these slots as long as they aren't class-specific ones. Here is a list of all gear slots for this Class:

Armor:

  • Helm
  • Chest Armor
  • Gloves
  • Pants
  • Boots

Jewelry:

  • Amulet
  • Ring (x2)

Weapons:

While you can use the gear slots for almost any armor set, the weapon slots for Spiritborns come with a few limitations. For instance, you can only wield two-handed weapons, unlike the dual-wielding ability of the Barbarian Class. Secondly, you can't use all the heavy two-handed weapons like for the Warrior Class. Instead, you can only equip Glaive and Quarterstaff as your primary weapons.

Both these weapons are unique for the Spiritborn Class and they do offer a punch of Agility and Strength to support your fast-paced combat maneuvers. Furthermore, the Quarterstaff packs a special defensive ability to save you from all melee attacks. Lastly, both of these items are considered heavy weapons, so you should expect some delays in your chain attacks. Fortunately, this new Diablo Class comes with a huge stash of abilities to make up for your slower attack speed.

Blogs Guardian Spirits

Guardian Spirits

Spiritborns have the ability to take aid from various animals during battle. These spirits help you deal massive damage to nearby enemies, quickly dash through the arena, and even protect you from incoming attacks with a shield. Furthermore, there are rumors that Spiritborns can also temporarily transform into their Guardian Spirits and use all their abilities (much like Druids). In any case, here is a list of all 4 Guardian Spirits and their unique abilities:

Jaguar (Rezoka):

  • Rake:
    • Vigor Cost: 30
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 16%
    • Damage Type: Fire

Conjure magical claws like a Jaguar that deals 20 damage to all enemies in its path. Moreover, the claw will explode on impact, dealing an extra 40 damage to all enemies within its small radius.

  • Ravager:
    • Cooldown: 20 seconds
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 30%
    • Damage Type: Fire

When used as a passive skill, Ravager reduces the minimum Ferocity to 2 points. As an active ability, the Ravager unleashes a savage roar and increases the damage output of all succeeding attacks by a whopping 60% for the next 7 seconds.

  • Rushing Claw:
    • Charges: 4v
    • Charge Cooldown: 4 per 20 seconds
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 25%
    • Damage Type: Fire

As the name suggests, the Rushing Claw allows you to dash for a short distance and strike all enemies in your straight path twice. It is an important crowd control ability as it deals 50 damage per strike to all enemies in your path.

  • The Hunter:
    • Cooldown 45 seconds
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 15%
    • Damage Type: Fire

This ability summons the Jaguar Spirit to the battlefield and deals 50 damage to all enemies in a wide radius. Moreover, you will deal about 200 Critical Strike damage for the next 7 attacks to all nearby enemies.

Gorilla (Wumba):

  • Rocksplitter:
    • Generate Vigor: 11
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 28%
    • Damage Type: Physical

Just like an actual Gorilla, the Rocksplitter will have you clobber in a straight line and destroy anything that stands in your path. With this multi-target attack, you can inflict up to 30 damage to several foes in one go.

  • Concussive Stomp:
    • Cooldown: 10 seconds
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 20%
    • Damage Type: Physical

The Concussive Stomp attack will make you feel like an Elden Ring boss. Basically, the player will stomp on the ground, generating a massive Shockwave that knocks down all nearby enemies for 3 seconds and inflicts 15 damage.

  • Payback:
    • Cooldown: 12 seconds
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 30%
    • Damage Type: Physical

Payback is definitely a great way to return your foes' hatred. With this attack, you can smash all enemies in front of you and deal over 100 damage. Furthermore, getting attacked will reduce Payback's active cooldown by 1 second.

  • The Protector:
    • Cooldown: 45 seconds
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 15%
    • Damage Type: Physical

The Protector skill is one of the barrier generation abilities in Diablo 4. You can summon your Gorilla Guardian Spirit to protect an area for 6 seconds. During this time, the spirit will smash all nearby enemies, generate 1.5% of your total HP barrier per second, and guard you against all incoming attacks.

Eagle (Kwath):

  • Soar:
    • Cooldown: 15 seconds
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 66%
    • Damage Type: Lightning

The Soar skill is the perfect way to assist your mercenary allies. With this ability, the player will fly in the air, creating a cloud of dust that makes all nearby enemies Vulnerable for 5 seconds. Moreover, you can inflict additional damage by crashing into any nearby troops.

  • Quill Volley:
    • Vigor Cost: 35
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 13%
    • Damage Type: Lightning

A light-ranged attack that hurls 5x sharp feathers in a straight path. These feathers will pierce through multiple enemies and inflict 15 damage per bounce.

  • Razor Wing:
    • Charges: 3
    • Charge Cooldown: 10 seconds
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 22%
    • Damage Type: Lightning

Similar to the Quill Volley, the Razor Wing skill will send a cluster of sharp feathers that deal over 50 damage to multiple enemies. Furthermore, the feathers will bounce back and deal additional damage for 2 seconds.

  • The Seeker:
    • Charges: 3
    • Charge Cooldown: 30 seconds
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 30%
    • Damage Type: Lightning

The Seeker is the mother, father, and grandfather of all projectile attacks in Diablo so far. This ability summons the Eagle spirit that first whoops down to deal 20 damage and then explodes after a short delay to deal an additional 300 damage to multiple targets, pretty much a meteor attack.

Centipede (Balazan):

  • Withering Fist:
    • Generate Vigor: 9
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 25%
    • Damage Type: Poison

We are genuinely aroused by the diversity of status effects you get with the Spiritborn Class. For instance, the Withering Fist attack will launch a projectile dart that first inflicts 5 physical damage and slowly applies 30% Poisoning for 6 seconds. Finally, the dart will explode and reduce nearby foes' movement speed by 30% for 3 seconds.

  • Scourge:
    • Cooldown: 12 seconds
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 20%
    • Damage Type: Poison

The Scourge attack is basically the definition of ancient Egyptian curses. This skill summons a wave of insects that bite all nearby enemies and inflict Fear and 100 Poison for over 6 seconds.

  • Stinger:
    • Vigor Cost: 40
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 20%
    • Damage Type: Poison

Are you ready to launch a Stinger Missile in Diablo IV? The Stinger attack targets a small area and inflicts 70 damage to all enemies within its radius. Furthermore, this attack will also inflict 10 damage to all Poisoned enemies in the surrounding areas.

  • The Devourer:
    • Cooldown: 45 seconds
    • Lucky Hit Chance: 10%
    • Damage Type: Poison

The Devourer is perhaps the best starting move for every battle strategy. Basically, this ability summons the Centipede Spirit that bursts out of the ground and inflicts 140 damage to all enemies in a straight path. Moreover, the spirit then divides and attacks even more enemies, dealing  40 damage per hit.

Blogs Diablo IV: Spiritborn Passives & Capstone Talents

Passives

Blizzard Studios has definitely gone the extra mile with the Spiritborn Class. For example, they have introduced variable fighting stances that give the player extra boosts and bonuses. Furthermore, these stances won't take up a skill slot, and players are free to choose or change any of them at any time. As for the Capstone Talents, you can choose any one of them after investing 33 points in unlocking the passive talents, so make sure to choose wisely:

Blogs Fighting Stance

As mentioned earlier, players can choose any fighting stance from the four Guardian Spirits to gain extra buffs. Currently, this feature is limited to the Spiritborn Class, but we expect the Developers to expand it to all other classes in the game. In the meantime, here is a list of all fighting stances and their bonuses:

  • Jaguar: 30% Attack Speed
  • Gorilla: 30% Damage Reduction
  • Eagle: 30% Movement Speed
  • Centipede: 30% Life Steal

Blogs Dismount Skill

Just when we thought Spiritborn has more passives than any other class in the game, the Devs threw in the Dismount Skill. Basically, traversing across the lands with your Guarding Spirits has its perks, and the Spiritborns make full use of them by mounting these spirits.

While mounted, players can use the Dismount Skill to quickly crash into any nearby enemies and deal Lightning damage. This attack is pretty similar to the Eagle's Ultimate Ability but with considerably lower damage output. Still, it is perhaps the best way to jump into any. However, players can't reuse the Dismount Skill until they use a mount again.

Blogs Vital Strike

Next up, we have yet another useful Passive Skill unique to the Spiritborn Class. Apparently, the next attack after inflicting any enemy with the Vulnerable status effect will:

  • Regenerate 2% of your max HP.
  • Removes the Vulnerable effect from the enemy
  • Generate 5 Vigor

Keep in mind that these bonuses are only valid for the succeeding attack after inflicting Vulnerable to the same enemy.

Blogs Prodigy's Tempo

The Spiritborn Class is getting more and more intriguing by the day, and we just can't wait to try it. Adding to our troubles, Blizzard Studios is having fun by teasing us with these new features. For instance, you can activate the Prodigy's Tempo by consecutively using the same Basic Skills and Core or Potency Skills three times to get the following bonuses:

Basic Skills:

  • Increases the ranks of all other skills by 2 points for the next 5 seconds.

Potency or Core Skills:

  • Reduces the cooldown timer of all active skills by 10% + 2% for each skill's rank.

Blogs Noxious Resonance

Critical Strikes on your enemies will cause them to burst and inflict 100% of their Poisoning on nearby enemies. In other words, say an enemy has 60% Poisoning, and you land a Critical Strike. In this case, the enemy will explode, and all nearby enemies will receive 60 damages.

Blogs Diablo IV: Spiritborn Spirit Hall

Spirit Hall

If you have read the Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred patch notes, you may be wondering, "What is this Spirit Hall thing?" Well, to make it simple, players must choose a Spirit Hall Skill after every 15 levels to gain additional boosts on all their skills.

These new Skills are Guardian Spirit dependent, so you must expect higher bonuses on the abilities from the same spirits. Oh, and you can either select a secondary Guardian Spirit after the next 15 levels or choose the same primary spirit to unlock even more perks. Here is a list of all Spirit Hall boosts and their corresponding Guardian Spirits:

Blogs Jaguar

  1. Every 4th Jaguar skill will unleash additional slashes that inflict the same damage as the previous 4 attacks combined.
  2. Every skill now counts as a Jaguar skill.

Secondary:

  1. Increases your maximum Ferocity by 1.
  2. Killing enemies or damaging bosses will yield a stack of Ferocity.

  2. You get the Unstoppable buff after collecting 5 stacks of Resolve.

Blogs Eagle

    1. The player will fire all available Storm Feathers with Evade.
    2. These feathers will deal 100 Lightning damage and inflict Vulnerable for 3 seconds.
  2. Changes all Skills to Eagle Skills.

Secondary:

  1. Grants +4% Critical Strike chance for every 4 meters you move.
    1. This bonus is reset 2 seconds after each Critical Hit.

  2. All Skills become Centipede Skills.

That's about everything we know about the Spiritborn Class in Vessel of Hatred Diablo IV. It seems like Blizzard Studio is going all the way with their newest characters. Therefore, it would be best to play the upcoming DLC with this Class at least once to get the complete experience. Hopefully, we have answered all your questions about the new Spiritborn Class.
