Diablo IV: Best Spiritborn Quill Volley Evade Build Guide — How to Avoid the Nerf?
The new Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred expansion comes with many futures, content updates, a whole new region, and our beloved, the Spiritborn Class. This new class quickly became the fan favorite as it promises speed, mobility, and agility in a single package. Even though all other Diablo classes have received new powers and skills, the Spiritborn is presently the most powerful of them all. So, if you are planning to base your seasonal character on this class, you may as well go with the most powerful build.
The Quill Volley Evade build is perhaps the most powerful in the entire Diablo history. This particular build exploits the Evade skill of the Eagle and is supported by other skills to ensure that every attack is a critical strike. However, we don't have much time as the Blizzard Studio is already planning to nerf this skill in the upcoming updates. Therefore, in this article, we will explain the Spiritborn Evade build, how to create it, and the best way to get around the upcoming nerf, let's get started:

Blogs Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred — Spiritborn Quill Volley Evade Build
Spiritborn is a versatile class that allows for numerous build options. While each of these builds holds a special place in our hearts, the Quill Volley Evade build is on a different level. This entire build focuses on the Quill Volley and Evade skills of the Eagle Spirit Hall. So, most of your gameplay will consist of alternating between the Quill Volley shotgun and quickly retreating with the Evade skill, resulting in massive damage.
However, we still need more Aspects and Skills to maximize the Vigor regeneration and reduce the cooldown for Quill Volley, which in turn recharges the Evade. If you maintain this strategy, you may never press the Basic Attack button ever again. Secondly, the only way to complete this build is to reach the max level 60. So, players planning to achieve this build must gradually work their way as it is a slow process. Next, we will discuss all the skills, abilities, and aspects you need to unlock for this build, as well as the best secondary Spirit halls to avoid the upcoming Vessel of Hatred Spiritborn nerf:
Blogs Skills for the Spiritborn Quill Volley Evade Build
If you are a Diablo Veteran, you probably already know that skill selection is extremely important for any build. Basically, you can use one skill to boost the damage output and cooldown time for other skills. For this build, you will need at least 58 Skill Tree points, which means you must reach at least level 58 to complete it. Here is a list of all the required skills and their required levels for the Evade build:
Skill Tree | Skills | Passives |
Basic Skills | Enhanced Thunderspike 1/5 | N/A |
Core Skills | Advantageous Quill Volley 5/5 |
|
Potency Skills | Invasive Razor Wings 5/5 |
|
Defensive Skills |
|
|
Focus Skills |
|
|
Ultimate Skills | Exalted The Hunter |
|
Key Passive | Vital Strikes | Prodigy's Tempo |
Notice how we have combined the best skills from all four Skill Trees, and they still synergize harmoniously. For the most part, you will need Quill Volley as your Core Skill for inflicting damage and the Invasive Razor Wings to impose the Vulnerable Status Effect. The goal is to maximize Vulnerable as it drastically increases the damage output of every feather projectile. Lastly, we have chosen the Hunter as our Ultimate Skill, as it has a higher chance to reset on successful hits. As for the Defensive Skills, we must use every possible measure to ensure that you stay in the fight for as long as possible, adding a Tanky feel to our Evade build.
As for the Key Passive Skill, we have selected the Vital Strikes as it increases the damage output of all attacks by up to 45% against Vulnerable enemies. Moreover, you will restore 2.5% HP and around 5% if your HP is below 50%. Lastly, each attack restores 5% Vigor and removes the Vulnerable Status Effect, but that's not a problem as you will be inflicting Vulnerable with almost every attack.
Blogs Spirit Hall Choices for Quill Volley Build
The Spiritborn class comes with four unique Spirit Halls or Guardians and you must choose two of them for your character. Generally, you can unlock and use any of the skills from all four Skill Trees without even choosing that particular Guardian. However, using the same skills as your Primary and Secondary Spirit Hall boosts the efficiency and synergy of relevant skills. For example, if you use the Quill Volley, using the Eagle as your Primary Spirit will further increase its damage output by 125%.
If you remember from our introductory paragraph, Blizzard Studio has announced its plan to nerf the Evade skill. So, we think that they will be nerfing the entire Eagle class so that players don't exploit it in any other way in their builds. Fortunately, we can easily avoid this nerf by avoiding the Eagle Guardian altogether.
For the anti-nerf Evade Spiritborn build, we recommend that you use Gorilla as your Primary Spirit Hall and Jaguar as your Secondary Guardian. Doing so will transform all your skills to Gorilla Skills, and the Jaguar Spirit will grant synergies for Ferocity Stacks which in turn boosts the Attack Speed.
In case you want to take your chances, you can stick to the original Evade build which uses the Eagle as its main Spirit Hall. As for the Secondary Guardian, you can either choose Jaguar or utilize the Aspect to double the Eagle as your Secondary Spirit Hall.
Blogs Spiritborn Evade Build Weapons and Gear Aspects
Next up, we want our character to be equipped with the most powerful items from head to toe. Fortunately, you don't have to go explore the Undercity, as you can easily find most of these items from within the Seething Realm. Oh, and don't forget to use the Seething Opal of Equipment, as it genuinely increases your odds of landing some decent gear items for yourself. In any case, here is a list of everything you need for your Spiritborn Quill Volley Evade build:
- Helm: Harmony of Ebewaka — Stacks the effects of Primary and Secondary Spirit Halls. Your skills deal 10 to 30% more damage.
- Chest Armor: Duelist's Aspect (for Jaguar) & Undying Aspect for Double Eagle.
- Gloves: Aspect of Accursed Touch — 40% chance to inflict Vampiric Curse and Vulnerable.
- Pants: Aspect of Binding Morass — Nearby damaged enemies are Slowed for 3 seconds, and Slowed enemies receive 20% extra damage.
- Boots: Aspect of Sky Power — Eagle Skills inside Mystic Circle explodes on Evade.
- Quarterstaff: Rod of Kepeleke — Core Skill acts as an additional Basic Skill and becomes free to use unless you have full Vigor.
- Amulet: Aspect of Aspect of Falling Feathers — Evading spawns Storm Feathers from sky, which deal Lightning damage on impact.
- Ring 1: Ring of the Midnight Sun — Critical Strikes regenerate 50% of the Vigor spent in the last 2 seconds.
- Ring 2: Aspect of Exhilaration — Attacking a Vulnerable enemy has a 25% chance to reset Evade's cooldown.
- Weapon: Rebounding Aspect — Quill Volleys explode on maximum reach and return to the player to deal 55% normal damage.
Blogs Evade Build Runewords and Mercenaries
Runewords and Mercenaries have finally returned to the Diablo universe and we are happy to take their full advantage in our Spiritborn build. Once you learn a Runeword, you must place it in the sockets for your gear items to utilize their powers. Here are the best Runewords to use for this build:
Cem + Lum:
Place into the Head sockets instead of Gems to regenerate your Primary Resource whenever you Evade.
Cir + Gar:
Place into the Pants sockets instead of Gems to boost Critical Strike after using the same spell thrice.
As for the Mercenaries, you must choose the ones that maximize your chances of Crowd Control and buy you time to make a safe retreat on low HP.
Subo: Primary Hire Mercenary
Provides Movement Speed boosts, inflicts Crowd Control and Vulnerable.
Raheir: Reinforcement Hired Mercenary
Casts Provoke whenever you are injured to buy you time to regain your HP.
