Acid is an important endgame resource in Once Human, and players are getting frustrated looking for it. You may have seen hundreds of players looking for this particular resource in the global chat while you sit on top of your acid pile, wondering what’s wrong with these folks. This short-term joy lasts until you level up and unlock Tungsten Ingot and the recipe to craft your own ammo. That’s when reality hits you hard, and you end up in the same global chat, getting mocked by newcomers.

So, is there any way to get acid fast to carry on with your construction projects? Well, in this article, we will discuss how to get acid in Once Human and perhaps the best farming strategy to generate acid passively without wasting any time, let’s get started:

How to Get Acid in Once Human?

If you didn’t already learn the hard way, acid in Once Human is an important endgame resource required for crafting high-tech gear, Tungsten Ingots, and of course, gunpowder, a much-needed item for crafting ammunition. The only problem is that there is no obvious way to get acid in the game, and the task markers remain silent on this issue. Furthermore, you must stock up on acid and fast if you really wish to keep your upper hand over other players and the NPCs in the game.

Fortunately, you will only need acid after character level 30 for the high-end upgrades. So, you will have plenty of time to set up acid farms and prepare yourself for the hard days before you actually start using it. Here are the best ways to farm acid in Once Human right from the beginning:

Loot from Enemies

Loot Acid

The easiest way to gain a lot of acid quickly is to defeat the high level enemies like Gnawner and Charred Maniac and loot it from their corpses. Moreover, you can also boost your gathering rate by consuming the Deviant Chops, which grants 50% acid for killing every enemy. So, you should first cook up this tasty meal on your electric stove before going out on a bounty hunt. While you are at it, we suggest that you check out our farming guide to learn how to grow your own peppercorn and other ingredients.

Once you are ready for battle, the next step is to head to any of these areas and start killing the enemies there to drop acid. We have shortlisted the three best areas to farm acid but you should only go to the ones according to the recommended character level to come out successful after every raid.

  • Brookham: This area is recommended for early-game acid farming around character level 8. You can reach this area by going north from the Wetlands region, and you can kill the foes there to get around 60 acids per hour. Once you have killed everyone, fast travel back to your camp and come back for more action.
  • High Banks: As you level up to about character level 14, you are ready to tackle the next acid farm in Once Human. The High Banks can be found in the Broken Delta region (check out the high bank passcode guide). We managed to get around 150 to 200 acids from just one hour of grinding with a high-end sniper.

Holt Town: Holt Town is the toughest acid farming location in the game. You will encounter several high-level foes and quite a few elites in the area. Therefore, we recommend that you only visit at character level 30+ and with fully upgraded gear and weapons. However, if you manage to keep up with the foes, you can get around 200 to 300 acids from just one hour of grinding. Overall, Holt Town is the best place to drop acid in Once Human during the endgame sequence.

Production Facility Events

Acid Production Facility

Next up, we have the Production Facility Events that yield acid in large quantities. You can find these machines in various settlements, and you must use your Blackfell Refinery and Extraction Permits to participate in these events. Considering you have already cleared the Holt Town area, you will have more than enough permits to get you going for a while. Still, if you need some extra permits, make sure to loot various crates and defeat elites during exploration quests.

Secondly, it would be best to look for groups participating in these tasks as taking them out on your own will definitely be a challenge for first-timers. Secondly, you should eat some Deviant Chops before starting these events to further boost your grinding efficiency. If all goes well, you will end up with hundreds of acids after completing just one Production Facility Event. Alternatively, you can also trade your own goods for 100x acid at the vending machine in BlackFell.

Passive Acid Production

Brewing Acird

Until now, we have only discussed how to loot acid from enemies and elites, but what about crafting some acid without any violence? Well, technically, it is possible to passively generate some acid while you are AFK or participating in other activities. However, this method requires shifting your base camp to a Stardust polluted area with a reliable polluted water source. While you can find these water bodies almost everywhere on the map, the pollution content isn’t always guaranteed to provide acid as a byproduct. Therefore, we suggest that you move your camp precisely to these coordinates in the Chalk Peak Region (-1039, -2323) and find a place near the water deck as shown in the picture:

Chalk Peak

Once you set up camp, the next step is to open the Memetics Cradle Menu and unlock the following recipes:

  • Water Pumps (Logistics - Tier 3)
  • Brewing Barrels (Logistics - Tier 4)
  • Reverse Osmosis Purifiers (Logistics - Tier 5)

Oh, and you will need plenty of electricity for your acid passive farm, so make sure to install generators and solar panels in the new territory. Next, install these components near the Stardust Polluted Water Source and feel free to add additional foundations if you run out of space for these components. For best results, you should install the Water Pumps and the Reverse Osmosis Purifiers towards the water and place your Brewing Barrels in close vicinity. Secondly, make sure to place at least three barrels to maximize your production efficiency. Finally, follow these steps to start generating some acid samples of your own:

  1. Connect the Water Pumps to the Reverse Osmosis Water Purifiers (press V to access the connection menu). Also, make sure to connect everything to the Power Generators and install enough of them to start powering your operation.
  2. Next, interact with the Reverse Osmosis Purifier and use the Impure Water samples to get Pure Water as well as Impure Acid as its byproduct.
  3. Take your Impure Acid and a few Pure Water Samples and place them in the Brewing Barrels.
  4. Finally, after waiting around for a few minutes, you will get Pure Acid or just Acid from the barrels. Repeat this process to get an unlimited acid supply until you don’t need it anymore.

Acid Passive Farm

If you find this process to be a bit time-consuming, you can just automate the whole operation. However, the acid yield will be much lower, but you will be free to tend to your tasks. To automate the acid generation, build Water Storage Tanks and connect them to the Water Pumps. Next, install a Compact Water Filter and connect the Storage Tank to it. Finally, connect the Compact Tank to your Brewing Barrels and your project will start generating acid passively without any input.

Advanced Acid Farm

Acid Advance Farming

This next method requires progression to about character level 36+, which won’t be an easy task, considering how much you are going to suffer during these stages. However, the acid output from this advanced acid farm is so high that you won’t need any other method ever again. You might have heard about Memetics Specializations, right? They are basically RNG-based nodes that you get after every 5x character levels, i.e., 5, 10, 15, and so on.

Adding to the troubles, you must choose from 4 Memetics Specializations randomly generated from the prize pool. So, your chances of getting the Sulphur Chemist Specialization are quite slim. However, if you manage to get your hands on it, you won’t need any other acid farm ever again. Simply unlock the Sulphur Chemist Memetics and install a few Advanced Synthesis Workbenches on your base camp. Next, go out and collect a ton of Sulphur Ores from the outworld and process them on the workbenches to collect acid.

If you keep at it, you can easily acquire around 1,000x acid from just one hour of grinding. The only problem is that you don’t see the Sulphur Chemist in the Memetics Prize Pool every day, so make sure to grab one as soon as you see it.

Disassemble Scrap

Finally, if you can’t keep up with your acid demand despite following all our grinding strategies, you are left with only one option, i.e., disassemble the scraps. You can get tons of raw and rare materials simply by processing the junk that you find lying around the world map. For instance, you can get Fireproof Plastic, Acid, and even rarer resources by processing simple scraps.

Hopefully, you have already installed a Disassembly Bench in your base camp, if not, do it immediately! Next, go about your day and complete various quests while keeping a lookout for scraps like Waste Bins and Disinfectants. Finally, bring all the scraps back to your facility and process them in the Disassembly Bench to get free acid.

How to get acid from contaminated plants? - [September Update]

How to Get Acid Update

The Once Human servers faced a minor maintenance downtime on 29th August, 2024. When the game came back online, we received a list of changes and improvements from the Developers. Among these minor changes, they have added three new plants in the game, better known as the Once Human Contaminated Plants. These plants are Contaminated Wheat, Contaminated Berries, and Contaminated Aloe Vera. You can find them in polluted regions, especially in northeast Chalk Peak area, here is the best place to grind Contaminated Plants in Once Human.

Contaminated Plants

Apparently, players can neither consume these plants nor use them in cooking recipes. Instead, you can place these plants in your brewing barrels to acquire a small amount of acid. Furthermore, you can also randomly drop the seeds for these plants and grow them in your farm to get a steady supply of acid. Lastly, our Buzzy Bee, Rain Man, and Growshroom Deviants have been busy taking care of these new plants, so feel free to add them to your automatic Acid farm.

Conclusion

That’s it! Now you have an endless supply of acid to use in your crafting projects. Basically, the trick is to start gathering acid right from day one so that you have enough supplies to keep you going for the rest of the game. Alternatively, you must unlock the Sulphur Chemist Specialization as soon as possible and you won’t be needing anything else. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions or suggestions, Tango Out!
