Being a Meta-Human has its perks in Once Human. For instance, you can consume the power of Stardust to unlock special abilities called Memetic Specializations. You can use these abilities to gain extra strength, boost your stats, eradicate thirst, and even convert common resources into special crafting materials. However, there’s always a catch with such amazing perks, and Once Human is no different.

Currently, there are over 80 Memetic Specializations in the game, but you can only choose a handful of them. Basically, you get to unlock a new specialization after every 5 character levels, i.e., 5, 10, 15, and so on. So, from our calculations, you can only pick 10 of these special abilities at the current max character level 50. Sounds overwhelming, right? Before we start throwing all the amazing perks that you can unlock in Once Human, it would be best to give you a short introduction first. Memetic Specializations are basically special perks that you can get by upgrading your character level. After every 5 levels, you will get a prompt to choose your new Specialization from a prize pool of 4 options.

So, you are pretty much at the mercy of RNG in that department. Fortunately, you get to reset your options up to 5 times during one season. In total, if you do everything right, you will end up with 10 out of the world specializations by the time you reach character level 50. Lastly, once you choose a power, there is no coming back, and you will be stuck with it for the rest of the game. Therefore, it would be wise to plan your character build beforehand, as these perks can drastically change your playstyle.

We have just received the Once Human 1st August 2024 update patch notes, and they are huge in terms of Memetic Specializations. According to the latest updates, players can obtain up to 3 Memetic Fragments that grant you the corresponding skills for the rest of the season. You can acquire random Fragments by using the in-game controllers, but again, through an RNG component. Furthermore, players can also trade their Memetic Specialization Fragments for Energy Links, goods, or other Fragments. Lastly, the powers acquired through these fragments won’t be carried over to the eternal depot, so they will reset after the current season.
