When we first started playing Once Human, we thought: great game, pretty much the same as any other survival-crafting title, and has some Far Cry vibes. However, we didn't really expect a full-fledged gambling machine incorporated so beautifully in a survival game. Basically, a Wish Machine is sort of like an arcade machine that grants you random blueprints and cosmetic items by spending Starchroms (the in-game currency).

The only problem is that a lot has changed since the early access phase of the game, and players are yet again confused about some mechanics, the Wish Machine being one of them. Therefore, in this article, we will discuss how to unlock and use the Wish Machine in Once Human after its launch, let's get started:

What is the Wish Machine in Once Human?

What is Wish Machine

The Wish Machine has been around in Once Human since its first beta release. It is basically a Gacha-style arcade machine that uses Starchroms as its tokens. You can use this machine to acquire random blueprints for various weapons, upgrades, and skins. However, it is based on a system of luck and prize pool, so you must play the mini-games and spin the wheel of chance to get random blueprints every time. You will need these fragments to progress in the main story, making the Wish Machine a crucial component of the game.

How to Get the Wish Machine?

If you have been playing Once Human since its early release, you are probably already familiar with the quest progression system of unlocking new structures. However, a lot has changed in the new third beta release, and now the Wish Machine is linked to a Memetic Upgrade rather than main quests.

How to Get

According to the latest update notes, the only way to get the Wish Machine in Once Human is to unlock it from the Memetics, gather all the required resources, and craft it right on your base. So, beware of any outdated guides on the internet as the "The Treasure Infinite" main quest is no longer available in the current patch. That being said, there are certain soft requirements before you can unlock the Wish Machine from the Memetics Menu:

  • Reach at least character level 20.
  • Complete the "[Guidance] Concept of materialization" main story quest.

Once you fulfil these criteria, open the Memetics Cradle and head over to the Logistics tab. Next, scroll down to tier-3 upgrades and unlock the Wish Machine by using 3x Ciphers and 200x Energy Link.

How to Build

Finally, head to your base camp and open the building menu by pressing B on your keyboard. Here, find and select the Wish Machine under Facilities > Function Facility. Here, you will need the following ingredients to craft the machine and place it anywhere inside your base:

  • 25x Copper Ingot
  • 10x Rusted Parts
  • 5x Metal Scraps
  • 3x Rubber
  • 5x Glass

How to Use the Wish Machine?

How to Use

With your Wish Machine in place, the next step is to interact with it and choose the latest activity in the arcade. Currently, there are 6 categories or tiers in the Wish Machine, each offering higher grade blueprints but at increased cost. For example, you can play "The Long Awaited" game to earn up to 10 blueprints from the prize pool, but each smash costs around 100x Starchroms unless there is an ongoing discount (like we got 80% discount).

You can check the current prize pool to see a list of available rewards in each tier. If you don't see anything useful, you can easily reset the prize pool by spinning the S-tier reward or by spending around 2,000 Starchroms to unlock new rewards.

How to Get 2

Note: you can only play each game a few times each day; this limit is there to prevent players from obsessing over the game while ignoring other game elements. So, if you can't use the Wish Machine after a few runs, you have probably run out of spins for the day. However, each spin costs a lot of Starchroms, so you had better learn how to get loads of them before you actually start obsessing over the prize pool.

Where to Get Starchroms in Once Human?

Starchroms

Currently, the only way to operate the Wish Machine in Once Human is to earn Starchroms (in-game currency). So, you will need a hefty sum of this money if you wish to progress in the game before any of your friends. That being said, there are many ways to earn Starchroms in the game, and honestly, they aren't as hard as we had initially thought. Basically, you can earn this in-game currency from the following activities:

  • In-game Events: There's always something going on in the new survival-adventure game. So, you can easily earn a lot of Starchroms by participating in these in-game events. You can access the current events from the pause menu (check the right side of the screen).
  • Journey Tasks: Just like the in-game events, you can also earn Starchroms by completing the Mayfly's Fantastic Journey event tasks. These tasks focus on different gameplay mechanics like adventure, exploration, combat, and gathering resources. So, you can easily stack up your Starchroms by completing all side quests listed in the task journal.
  • Prime Wars: This next activity is only available for those players who have joined a clan (guild). Basically, its like a gang war event that yields Starchroms and several other rewards upon completion.
  • Purifying Echo Stones: You can also earn Starchroms by defeating Elites and Bosses and purifying their Echo Stones using the Resonant Filter. You can repeat this process up to 40 times per week and gather more Starchroms than you can spend in the same week.
  • Season Goals: Access the Journal Entries by pressing J on your keyboard and check out your activity progress. You will earn variable amounts of Starchroms for completing each journal and season goal, so make sure to check it out daily.

Surveys: Once Human is still in its beta stage, so the devs conduct regular surveys to get your opinions about different gameplay mechanics. You can participate in these surveys to make a few Starchroms while contributing to the gaming community.

Conclusion

So, that's pretty much everything that you need to know about Once Human Wish Machine: how to unlock it, and how to use it to yield better rewards. Typically, you must spin the game at least once every day to remain on top of things. Furthermore, it doesn't really hurt to participate in the in-game events and side activities as they will yield the much-needed Starchroms. Hopefully, you already have all the answers, still, feel free to reach out if you would like to learn about something else.
