Once Human: How to Get Specialization Memory Fragments?

Time
Time
Once Human Team Editor

Once Human gives the players complete freedom when it comes to character builds and base customization. While you can craft new weapons and items from naturally available materials, certain exclusive resources and items require Memetic Specializations. However, there are 84 unique Specializations in the game, and you can only get 10 of them at the max level 50, making it near-impossible to collect all your favorite ones.

Fortunately for us, the game keeps us entertained by adding new features to every update. For example, the Developers introduced the Specialization Memory Fragments in the August Patch 1.1. So, now players have a chance to drop various Fragments from bosses and even trade their Specializations with other players. The only problem is that they are very rare drops, and we managed to get only one Fragment after a whole hour of grinding. Therefore, in this article, we will discuss how to get Specialization Memory Fragments in Once Human and the best ways to farm your favorite ones, let’s get started:

Blogs What are Once Human Specialization Memory Fragments?

What are Memory Fragments

Before we start discussing the best strategies to acquire all available Memory Fragments, it would be best to give you a quick overview of this new feature. Basically, players can drop Specialization Memory Fragments by killing bosses and opening the golden crates at the end of these activities. Unlike the RNG-based Memetics Specializations, these Fragments are collectible items that players can acquire directly from the game world.

Once you have a Memory Fragment, you can then use it to replace your currently unlocked Memetic Specializations of the same level (more on that later). Furthermore, players can also replace them at the Vending Machines and trade them with other players in exchange for all kinds of goods, including Deviants, Energy Links, and other Memory Fragments. In other words, the Specialization Memory Fragments are collectible items that you can use to improve your build and get all those Specializations that you missed due to the RNG rolls.

How to Get

Okay, so now that you know the basics of Specialization Memory Fragments, it is time to explore all the ways to get them. Currently, there are only two ways to acquire these Fragments, i.e., drop from bosses and trade from other players. Oh, and you can use up to 3 Fragments to replace your Specializations per season, so you better watch out!

As you probably know from our Things to Do before Season Reset Guide, the Once Human Season 2 is releasing in a few days, and you can’t carry your Memory Fragments to the Eternaland. So, now is the best time to use all your available Cleansers and Fragments or else you will lose them forever. Here are the best ways to farm Specialization Memory Fragments in Once Human:

Blogs Drop from Bosses

Boss Drop

The most straightforward way to get Specialization Memory Fragments in Once Human is to defeat bosses, clear the Monoliths and attempt the Silo dungeons. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that you will drop a Memory Fragment from each run, so you must keep repeating these dungeons until you get your desired results. That being said, we have found an exploit that drastically increases your odds of farming these Memory Fragments. Keep in mind you will need to spend a ton of Controllers to open the Golden Chests, so you better stock up your shelves with those. Here is a list of all Rift Bosses in Once Human and their locations:

  • Raveous Hunter: Monolith of Greed, Dayton Wetlands
  • Arachsiam: Mirage Monolith, Iron River
  • Mensdevoran: Forsaken Monolith, Red Sands
  • Rabizex: Monolith of Thirst, Chalk Peak
  • Treant: Gaia Cliff Monolith, Broken Delta

Controller

Once you defeat a Rift Boss, use your Controllers on their corpses to maximize your rewards and increase the odds of dropping a Specialization Memory Fragment.

Blogs Specialization Memory Fragments Farming Guide

Farming

The quickest way to collect all Memory Fragments is to attempt Rift Bosses, Silos, Prime Wars, and Monoliths. While the drop rate is too low for these Fragments, we dropped almost double the amount by playing at higher difficulty levels. So, if you want to really increase your odds, you better attempt these activities in either Hard or Pro difficulty settings.

Firstly, you should be at least character level 50, which is expected of you as the current season is in its final stages. Secondly, you must have a huge stash of Controllers if you want to make full use of our farming guide. Lastly, you should bring at least 2 friends to each activity or unlock the Transformation Cookie Deviant if you wish to sneak past the guarding mobs. Finally, pick up your best weapons, Combat Deviants, pack medicines, and start grinding each of the following locations:

  • Lea Research Lab
  • Securement Silo: EX1 (Hard)
  • Securement Silo: Sigma (Hard)
  • Treant: Gaia Cliff Monolith (Hard/Pro)
  • Shadow Hound: Monolith of Thirst (Hard/Pro)

Vending Machine

As mentioned earlier, there is no guaranteed drop after each attempt in these locations. However, each run takes around 5 minutes, so you can keep repeating until you drop your favorite Fragments. If you are unlucky and don’t get your desired results, you can always trade your current Memory Fragments with other players (check out the world chats and Vending machines).

Blogs How to Use Specialization Memory Fragments?

How to Use

Now that you have a few Once Human Specialization Memory Fragments, it is time to use them. Hopefully, you have already found all the Specialization Fragments that you missed due to the RNG rolls and are ready to replace your lesser Memetics to complete the character build. Here’s a short guide on how to replace your current Specializations with Memory Fragments:

  • Open the Memetics Cradle and select Specializations from the top left corner of the screen.
  • This next screen will display a list of all your unlocked Specializations and also the available slots.
  • Next, hover over to the Memory Fragments Menu in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Finally, select the Memory Fragment to replace the unlocked Specializations accordingly.

Alternatively, if you have been unlucky and didn’t get your desired Memory Fragments, you can make a ton of money by selling them. Simply place your extra Fragments in the Vending Machine and wait for some other player to purchase them. Similarly, you can also directly trade your Fragments with other players in exchange for other Fragments, Energy Links, Deviants, and any other transferrable item.

Blogs Specialization Memory Fragments Limitations

Limitations

Even though these rules weren’t quite clear in the initial patch notes, we have collected every bit of information to learn exactly how does the Memory Fragments system work; here are our findings:

  • You can only use 3 Specialization Memory Fragments per season.
  • The Specialization Memory Fragments won’t get carried over to the Eternaland and thus won’t be available after the Season Reset.
  • You can only replace the Fragments that correspond to the same level, i.e., level 35 Fragment can only be used in the level 35 Specialization Memetic Slot.
  • You can reset the Specialization Memory Fragments with Memetics Cleansers, which you acquired via seasonal goals.
  • Low level Memory Fragments can be used in high level slots, i.e., level 10 Fragments can be used in level 20 slots but not the other way around.
  • Players can trade, exchange, and sell their acquired Memory Fragments at the Vending Machine; the same can be used to purchase Fragments from other players.
  • Information on all Specialization Memory Fragments is available within the Vending Machine.

Blogs Conclusion

That’s about everything on how to get Specialization Memory Fragments in Once Human and how to use them. Even though the drop rate is pretty rare, you can increase your odds by attempting high difficulty bosses and using more Controllers at the end of each battle. Lastly, we don’t guarantee that you will get all your favorite Specializations before the Season Reset, you can keep at it to test out all the different ones for your future builds.
