Throne and Liberty is the latest sensation on Steam, and players are getting restless to learn everything about this Amazon Game. The game was strategically released just in time when both Diablo IV and BG3 players have run out of content and are eagerly waiting for the upcoming seasons. As a result, over 50K players have already joined the game on its global release day, and honestly, everyone is enjoying this first run. Much like Diablo IV, TL is all about unlimited action, but with a plot twist, i.e., you must constantly farm, mine, and gather resources to upgrade your gear.

In this regard, mining in Throne and Liberty is extremely crucial for survival, leveling up, and improving your equipment. However, the game doesn’t really follow the same mining practices as other MMORPGs, as the players must race to grab the best nodes before others. Still confused? Don’t worry; we will provide a complete Throne and Liberty mining guide to help you master these alien mechanics, let’s get started:

Throne and Liberty: Mining Guide

Mining is an important game mechanic in Throne and Liberty. You must mine various Veins and Nodes to acquire rare ores and other crafting materials. Next, you can take your mined goods to a Weapons Crafter for crafting tools and weapons or upgrade your Ores. Similarly, you can also use your Gold and other valuable Ores to craft jewelry and other cosmetic items. In any case, gathering, refining, and crafting are repetitive tasks in this game, and it would be wise to master these skills ASAP.

TL Mining Basics

Mining Basics

As mentioned earlier, resource gathering and mining in Throne and Liberty are very different from your regular MMORPGs. For example, the mining node’s locations aren’t fixed, and you can’t mine your resources from the same place twice. Similarly, everyone has access to the same Veins, so it is a first come, first served sort of thing, and it is likely to stay this way for a long time. Here are a few basics of mining in Throne and Liberty that will give you a head start over other players:

Veins are Only Visible on the Mini-Map

Unlike other RPGs, mining nodes don’t spawn in fixed spots on the map. As a result, you can’t just visit the same place daily to get your favorite resources. However, you can use your mini-map (located in the top-right corner) to find any nearby Veins. Currently, this map displays all nodes within a 100m radius from your current location. So, keep an eye out for the white crystal icons on the map while you explore various regions.

That being said, you can explore the nearby areas after mining ore to find more Veins that give pretty much the same resources. However, these locations will shift regularly, so you can’t mine the same resources from the same location twice.

Veins are for One-time Mining

As much as you need these resources, there are countless other players looking for the same ores. So, in most cases, players must fight their way to lay claim to any freshly-spawned mineral ores. The only catch is that each Node can only be mined once, so it is either you or some other player who gets all the benefits from a single Vein.

Once you spot a Vein, chances are that all nearby players can also see the same icons on their mini-map. Therefore, you must hurry to the Vein and try to get everything out before getting attacked by other bounty hunters. Similarly, it is no use to fight over a Vein that’s already getting mined by some other player. In this case, you must hurry to find another nearby Vein before the other player finishes his mining animation.

Nodes are Generated by RNG

Again, Veins and Nodes in Throne and Liberty are procedurally generated by a special RNG algorithm. So, if you are lucky enough to find a Pure Gold Ore from one place, chances are that you won’t find the same resources from this location for a very long time. Similarly, there are no fixed locations for resources in this game. Say you found a Moonstone Ore in Fonos Basin once; it doesn’t really guarantee that you can revisit the same spot tomorrow to get the same materials again.

On the bright side, you can try exploring nearby regions after mining a Vein to check if the new spawn is there. Otherwise, your only option is to continue exploring until you “accidentally” stumble across a similar Node again. Lastly, we suggest that you pick out a specific route to cross the map and grind it regularly before starting your daily quests and participating in events.

Weather Affects Gains

Another special LT mechanism that came out of the blue is how the weather and day / night cycle affect your gains. Generally, there is a high chance of dropping valuable ores like Precious Gold Ore and Rare Emeret Ore by mining when it is raining. This system is still young, and there are countless opportunities to exploit it before the developers include even more restrictions.

In any case, it is best to experiment with your daily mining routine to get the most out of your mining operations. For example, you can try mining at different times of the day (each cycle lasts for about 5 hours) and also experiment with the weather conditions until you get your desired outcomes.

Not all Ores are Valuable

Currently, there are 11 different types of ores and mining resources that you can acquire in Throne and Liberty. While most of them can be used in various crafting recipes and upgrading your gear, you don’t really need all of them unless you are going for the Lithography Book rewards. Therefore, it is important to keep an eye on the mined resources’ rarity, uses, and tiers before placing them in your inventory.

Otherwise, you will end up with loads of junk ores that you won’t use for a long time with no space for the ones that you really need. That being said, you can improve your current ores, i.e., White to Green and Green to Blue, by visiting the Weapon Crafter in Town. So, even if you aren’t lucky on the day, you can still improve your mined goods by paying a small fee in coins and a bunch of lesser resources.

How to Mine Moonstones in Throne and Liberty?

How to Mine

Now that you understand the basics of mining in Throne and Liberty, it is time to test your theoretical knowledge. In order to start mining, you must first find a nearby Vein on your mini-map and quickly get close to it before any other player. Otherwise, you might have to fight over the Node or, worse, find another one.

Once you get close to a Vein, simply interact with it to start the mining operation. You must press the following keys to begin mining:

  • Press F on PC
  • Press Square on PlayStation
  • Press X on Xbox

Finally, the mined goods (ores) will be automatically added to your inventory after a brief mining animation unless you get attacked midway. Oh, and you can always check out the mined goods or drop the unwanted ones by checking your inventory.

Best Places to Mine

As for the best places to start mining in Thrones and Liberty, we suggest that you check out the following locations for a head start. However, we don’t guarantee the yield or predict what ores you will get as it is all randomly spawned for different servers:

  • Black Anvil Forge middle area.
  • The middle area of the Urstella Fields.
  • North Road towards the Fonos Basin.
  • Borders of the Shattered Temple.
  • Southwest road between Windhil Shores and Nesting Grounds.
