Throne and Liberty: All Guardians and How to Get Them?

Blogs Team Editor

Throne and Liberty offers a unique character transformation system that allows the players to shapeshift to different Guardians and use their unique skills. Unlike Morphs, which allow you to dash, glide, and swim for faster travel, Guardians will lend you their special defensive and offensive skills. So, they are sort of like Ultimate abilities that you can use during battle to overcome some of the toughest enemies in the game.

The only problem is that the game’s tutorial section doesn’t mention anything about these Guardians, and you can only unlock them after the mid-game sequence. As a result, numerous players who have been watching YouTube gameplays are trying hard to acquire them. In this article, we will tell you everything about Throne and Liberty Guardians and how to get them, let’s start:

What are Guardians in Throne and Liberty?

What are Guardians

Guardians are historical figures in the Throne and Liberty lore who briefly lend you their abilities for a short time. You can think of it as a special Ultimate Ability where the player will transform into a powerful being and use their skills. However, this transformation only lasts for a few seconds and requires a 10-minute cooldown before you can use the same Guardian. So, it is important to master the best time for each transformation or else you won’t stand a chance in the challenging battles.

On the bright side, each of these brief transformations gives you immense powers, enough to defeat some of the toughest enemies in the game. Still, the limited Guardian slots for each build and the cooldown timer will force you to only choose the most suitable Guardians for your playstyle.

Throne and Liberty: All Guardians and How to Unlock Them?

Throne and Liberty is a one-of-a-kind RPG that encourages all players to experiment with their special playstyles. So, you may prefer a ranged Weapon Combination over the all-powerful melee build or even opt for a magic-based build and still enjoy every bit of the game. Fortunately, there is a wide range of Guardians available in the game that can be used with a number of character builds. Moreover, the Devs plan to add even more Guardians in future updates so that maximum players can accomplish their dream builds.

Currently, we have unlocked and tested only 7 Guardians in Throne and Liberty. However, we are also hearing rumors about 5 more potential entries that might join the league in the next patch (we will keep you updated). Here is a list of all 7 Guardians in TL, their skills, and how to unlock them:

Vampire Slayer Ezekiel

Vampire Slayer

Skill: Vampiric Scar

Effect: Ezekiel is a passive guardian that deals damage equivalent to 0.6% of your max HP per second to all targets within a 2.5m radius. This damage accumulates over time and you will restore 20% of the total DMG dealt after 5 seconds. Furthermore, the Vampiric Scar will also increase your defense by 400 points, making you sort of invincible for a short time.

The Vampiric Scar is a useful Guardian for all non-magic builds, especially when you are surrounded by all sides and require immediate aid to catch a breath.

How to Unlock?

The Vampire Slayer Ezekiel is the first unlockable Guardian in Throne and Liberty. You can unlock it by completing the Sacred Pledge of Blood quest during Chapter 5. To complete this Codex entry, head to the temple and traverse through its grand halls to learn everything about Ezekiel and his past. Finally, fight and defeat Leonardas, the vampire, to unlock Ezekiel as your Guardian.

Lady Knight Kamarshea

Lady Knight

Skill: Eternal Barrier

Effect: Lady Knight Kamarshea will protect you against all incoming damages for up to 50% of your max Mana. Furthermore, the Eternal barrier will reduce the cooldown for all your other skills by a whopping 40%. Lastly, this Guardian transformation isn’t time-bound, and its effects will last as long as the shield is active.

While Lady Knight Kamarshea doesn’t offer direct damage, her skill gives you enough time to catch a breath, heal yourself, and quickly use all your abilities and weapon skills to defeat any horde of foes. From our experience, the Eternal Barrier skill is suitable for ranged builds (bow and crossbow), Sword and Shield, and Staff or Wand magic builds.

How to Unlock?

You can unlock the Lady Knight Kamarshea by completing the Elemental Tree Harvest quest at Daybreak Shores, northwest of Lizard Island. Once you reach the shore, interact with the Elemental Tree and follow the Blue Light, passing other trees along the way. Finally, interact with the small Elemental Tree and wish it well to receive your second Guardian in Throne and Liberty.

Green Ranger Elowen

Green Ranger

Skill: Thorn Shackles

Effect: Transforming into the Green Ranger Flowen Guardian will give you an 80% chance to Bind all enemies within a 4m radius for 5 seconds. Moreover, all enemies afflicted by either Bind or Immobility will receive up to 500 Critical Strike DMG by all attacks (melee, ranged, and magic).

The Thorn Shackles is a great skill to use against multiple enemies within a short radius. However, the damage buff is short-lived, so you must use other skills to inflict the Bind debuff to further increase its efficiency. Otherwise, your attacks won’t be enough to defeat all nearby enemies in under 5 seconds. Lastly, builds based around melee weapons, i.e., Daggers, Sword and Shield, and Greatswords, will greatly benefit from this Guardian.

How to Unlock?

You can unlock the Green Ranger Flowen Guardian by completing the Elemental Tree Harvest quest in the Nesting Grounds, east of Kaselton City. Start the quest by interacting with the Elemental Tree south of the River of Abundance and follow the Blue Light until you locate the fifth Tree. Finally, interact with the small Elemental Tree near the Fifth Tree to unlock the Green Ranger Guardian.

Brutal Warrior Valkarg

Brutal Warrior

Skill: Barbarian’s Thirst

Effect: Transforming into the Brutal Warrior Valkarg will allow you to store up to 4000% DMG dealt to you by your enemies. You can then use 25% of the total accumulated DMG to inflict Bind, Stun, or Sleep to all nearby enemies. Basically, the Barbarian’s Thirst skill allows you to attack your enemies with their own energy.

Barbarian’s Thirst is a great skill for all tank builds, as they can easily handle immense pressure from multiple targets. So, you should only consider this Guardian if you play with a Sword and Shield or Greatsword as your primary weapon. Otherwise, you are better off with another Guardian.

How to Unlock?

You can unlock the Brutal Warrior Valkarg Guardian by completing the Desert Plunderers Quest in the Monolith Wastelands. Start at the Vienta Village and go south to meet with the Quarrelsome Merchant. Next, examine the Resistance Recruitment Ad Board and interact with the Grinwell Village Statue to start the bandit fight. Finally, defeat all bandits and their leader to receive Brutal Warrior Valkarg’s Guardian Pledge.

Shade Revenant Stheno

Shade Revenant

Skill: Dread Shard

Effect: The Shade Revenant Stheno is a great Guardian to help you escape while dealing damage to multiple enemies. Basically, the Dread Shard skill will release 5 projectiles at random enemies within a 10m radius every second. Each of these projectiles will deal with 52 base DMG, and the projectiles can even land on the same enemy multiple times.

From our experience, the Revenant Stheno is best suited for scenarios when the player is in a pinch and in dire need of some external aid. The 5-second attack timer is more than enough to create a safe buffer from the enemies, catch a breath, and even heal yourself for more action. Lastly, ranged builds will definitely benefit from this Guardian, especially if you are using Long Bows, Staffs, and Wands.

How to Unlock?

You can easily unlock the Shade Revenant Stheno by completing the For Whom the Bell Tolls quest at the Ruins of Turayne, northeast of the City of Kastleton. Speak with the Discouraged Stonemason northeast of the Ruins and ring the four bells by climbing the bell towers. The locations for these towers will appear on the map one at a time, and you can easily reach all of them by grappling with nearby structures and flying to the towers. Finally, speak to the Stonemason again and claim the Guardian reward from the quest journal.

Pale Nemesis Hartach

Pale Nemesis

Skill: Stealth Blade

Effect: The Pale Nemesis Hartach Guardian is best suited for Assassin builds. Killing an enemy within 3 seconds will Hide you for the next 5 seconds. Furthermore, the Hide will last for over 7.5 seconds if you hunt during nighttime. Oh, and the first attack after Hiding will count as a Critical Strike, and the Hide Timer will reset if your next kill is within 3 seconds.

The Stealth Blade skill works well if you can quickly kill your first enemy and then launch a chain of Assassinations until there is no one left on the battlefield. However, this skill is useless unless you master the first strike with either a Dagger or a Crossbow, as both of them guarantee quick kills.

How to Unlock?

You can unlock the Pale Nemesis Hartach Guardian by completing the Farewell quest at the Watcher’s Post, north of the City of Kastleton. However, this quest is a bit complicated, so make sure you complete all steps in the correct order:

  • Speak with the Laslan Watch Guard Ryan south of the Watcher’s Post.
  • Kill 15 Zombies at the Ruins of Turayne.
  • Enter the Abandoned House and examine the Journal and Faded Letter.
  • Next, interact with the cracked mirror to begin the Inception Memories.
  • Put a plank on the front door, head to the desk, and write a letter.
  • Head to the back door, check on the baby and put another plank across the door.
  • Once you exit the memories, speak with Ryan again to complete the quest and unlock the Hartach Guardian from the quest journal.

Masked Warlock Dantalux

Masked Warlock

Skill: Abyssal Sanctuary

Effect: The Masked Warlock Dantalux Guardian is best for supporting roles. When you transform, you will recover 26% of your used Mana, and your nearest party member(s) will recover 53% of their Mana.

The Abyssal Sanctuary is suitable for support roles, healers, and magicians who use Staff and Wand. If you aren’t any of these, then you should opt for other Guardians.

How to Unlock?

You will unlock the Masked Warlock Dantalux Guardian after completing The Voice Behind the Mask quest at the Sandworm Lair in the Stoneguard zone. This quest requires a series of steps, so make sure you don’t have any other pending activities for the day. Find the Mysterious Mask on top of the Stone Arch to start the quest. Next, follow the Lights, use the teleportation tower, and survive the Sandstorm for 30 seconds. Interact with the second teleporter, defeat the Ancient Crystal Scorpion, and read the Ancient Letters to drop Masked Warlock Dantalux’s Guardian Pledge.

Upcoming Guardians in Throne and Liberty:

As mentioned earlier, we have heard rumors about 5 more Guardians that will be added in upcoming Throne and Liberty updates. However, we don’t know their exact skills and unlocking methods; all we know is their names. We will update this guide as soon as the Devs add these remaining Guardians; here are their names:

  • Fairy Archer Rafadriel
  • Gloomy Jester Barbason
  • Soundless Mage Taliesia
  • True Defender Pluton
  • Wild Enchanter Dreadal

Conclusion

To sum it up, Guardians are like Ultimate Abilities in Throne and Liberty, which players can use to get out of dangerous situations. You can use some of these Guardians to create a safe distance, while others can be used to defeat some of the toughest enemies in the game. However, you can only use one or two Guardians per fight, so choose wisely. Hopefully, you have found the perfect Guardians for your build and playstyle in this guide.
