Soulmask Team Editor

SoulMask is a bit different from other survival games as you must tend to not only your personal survival needs but also look after your clan members. So, are you ready to kickstart your job as a tribe chieftain and conquer the known world? Well, not so fast! First, you must find a prominent location to set up your base camp before moving on to other important tasks.

Your SoulMask base serves as a safe haven where you can store your resources, weapons, buildings, and everything else. Basically, it is your home where you can relax and thrive in the safety of your stone walls. Therefore, it is extremely important to choose the best base locations that offer safety from world hazards and have multiple important resources in close proximity. In this article, we will discuss how to choose the best SoulMask base locations for early game, mid game, and endgame phases, and how to shift all your belongings to the new site, let’s get started:

Blogs How to Choose SoulMask Base Locations?

As mentioned earlier, your base location is extremely important for your tribe’s survival in the wild. We could just pinpoint the obvious and good locations on a map and ask you to build a base there. However, then we wouldn’t really be contributing to the community as we must first discuss what makes a location perfect for your base. Here are the decisive factors you must consider before moving in to your new home.

Blogs Nearby Resources

The first and most obvious thing to look for in your potential base location is nearby resources. While you can get common resources like logs and stones from almost anywhere, certain rare building materials like premium hardwood require special attention. Similarly, you will need more exclusive resources like Clay, Iron, and Copper as you progress further into the game. Thus, it is extremely important to set up camp in such a location that gives you easy access to multiple important resources or at least you can go and fetch them easily.

Blogs Proximity to Water

Water is extremely important for your survival in the mysterious lands. You need water to survive, keep your tribesmen healthy, grow crops, breed animals, and brew special recipes. While you can build rain harvester and storage tanks to maintain a steady water supply anywhere, you don’t get this privilege until the mid-game phase. Therefore, it is crucial to choose a base location as close to a water source as possible so that you can focus on more important tasks than just fetching water all day long. Oh, and living close to a water body also gives you access to unlimited Clay for your construction projects.

Blogs Enemies in the Area

This next factor is a bit controversial as it doesn’t really appeal to some play styles. Basically, there are various enemy locations like barracks, strongholds, camps, and ruins scattered across the map. These enemies will usually attack you on sight, and fighting off a whole platoon as soon as you leave bed is a bit overwhelming for most players. Furthermore, you shouldn’t look for a base location near temple guardians, beast lairs, and jaguar territories. Lastly, if you are playing on a public server, you must set up camp in uncommon locations so that no one ‘accidentally’ raids your beloved camp.

Blogs Space for Expansion and Defense

Last but not least, your base location should have enough space in the surrounding for your future base expansions. As you progress further into the game, you will unlock special resource structures, farmlands, granary, grinder, breeding pens, and so much more. Therefore, it is important that you base camp has enough room for you to expand your walled territory without shuffling everything else. Oh, and you must also consider natural defenses like cliffs and valleys to keep unwanted guests at bay.

Blogs Best SoulMask Base Locations

SoulMask features a huge world map with diverse climate conditions, a wide array of resources, and despicable enemies. Almost every region in the game is unique and comes with a set of pros and cons for you to consider. As a result, choosing one perfect location for your base is nearly impossible.

Fortunately, you can build multiple bases as you progress through Awareness Strength levels, making it easier to travel across the land and gather resources. Next, we will discuss the best SoulMask base locations for each of the game phases:

Blogs Best Early Game Base Locations

Most of the early game phase takes place in the starter location, so your expansion will be limited to this island only, unless you plan to run across the entire map. There are three potential locations, ideal for early game phase until you unlock more advanced technology trees.

Blogs Starter Lake

Early Starter Lake

The first best SoulMask early game base location is right next to the starting zone. You can grab a lot of loot while moving toward this location near the lakeside. However, this location will be quite crowded in public servers, so its mainly recommended for single player servers.

Pros:

  • No nearby enemy camps
  • No dangerous beasts (except for bush dogs)
  • Near a Water source
  • Plenty of wood and stones
  • Near to Clay deposits and tamable animal spots.

Cons:

  • Crowded in multiplayer servers
  • Not suitable for mid-game phase
  • Very low opportunity for leveling.

Blogs Lake Paradise

Early Lake Paradise

This second potential base site is located a bit north from the previous option. It offers almost the same benefits but slightly lesser flat ground space for your buildings. Furthermore, we don’t really recommend farming in this area as the terrain won’t support more than a couple of plots. Still, if you missed the previous location in a public server, you can always get here to build your first camp.

Pros:

  • Plenty of Wood, Stone, Water, and breeding animals.
  • No dangerous beasts except for a few jaguars
  • Offers some opportunities of combat leveling
  • Clay Deposits in close vicinity

Cons:

  • Very little flat ground for buildings and farms
  • Barbarian Camp nearby
  • Located quite far from rare ores and resources.

Blogs Coastal Beach Resort

Early Beach Side

Finally, if you are planning to build a beach resort as your first camp, you can’t find a better location than this one. While most of the coastal area is dry and unhabitable, this particular area has some trees, a small lake in the back, and a quite a few clay deposits for your projects. However, you should only consider building here after you unlock basic buildings and crafting recipes at level 15.

Pros:

  • Plenty of fishing opportunities.
  • Diverse building resources
  • No nearby Barbarian Camps
  • Zero danger from predators
  • Natural defense from two sides of the camp.

Cons:

  • Significantly lesser resources without advanced technology skills
  • No breeding beasts in the area
  • You must travel inland to recruit tribesmen
  • Not suitable for your first base camp.

Blogs Best Mid Game Base Locations

As you progress further into the game, you will unlock better tools, more powerful weapons, complex structures, and a few masks. Moreover, you will also unlock the second island on the left side with medium mountains, rocky grasslands, and rarer resources. So, it is just more feasible to build a second base right on this island so that you don’t have to travel back and forth all day long. Again, there are three potential best base locations for the mid-game phase in SoulMask:

Blogs River’s Edge

Mid River's Edge

You may not find this location on any other forum, mainly because its not very common among the players. Well, that’s a plus point if you play in public servers with hundreds of players. This special location offers the benefits of both islands and with far little danger than other options. Overall, it is a great location for early to mid-game progression.

Pros:

  • Abundant building resources
  • Some combat opportunities for leveling
  • Natural defense from the river side
  • Fresh water source in the area
  • Plenty of flat land for farming and breeding

Cons:

  • Moderate danger from Barbarians, other players, jaguars, and alligators
  • Requires Awareness Strength level 20+

Blogs Safe Haven Island

Mid Safe Haven

We have all dreamt of building a castle on an isolated island at some point. Well, this next location can make all your dreams come true, only if you are willing to pay the price. This base site is situated between the two islands and is completely isolated from all sides. Thus, you shouldn’t expect any uninvited guests in your tribe but quite a few dangerous wild beasts. In short, if you are looking for a safe place to rest and build your creative castle, this location won’t disappoint you:

Pros:

  • Abundance of basic resources
  • Fresh water supply
  • No danger from humans
  • Natural defense from all sides
  • Plenty of flat ground terrain

Cons:

  • Not suitable for leveling through combat
  • Danger from Piranhas and Elite Alligators
  • No rare ores in the area.

Blogs Jungle’s Edge

Mid Jungles Edge

This final location is ideal for late mid-game progression. This place is safe from beasts but is located between multiple Barbarian Camps. So, it is a lot of potential for gaining experience and grinding for exotic resources. Furthermore, it is located right on the edge of jungle so finding premium wood and rare fresh meat won’t be a problem for you anymore. However, we only recommend this area if you are at Awareness Level 35 or better:

Pros:

  • Abundance of rare resources
  • Plenty of animals for breeding and flat land for farming
  • Nearby Barbarian Camps will supply the high-level tribesmen
  • Elite game in close vicinity
  • Best suitable for level grinding and rare materails

Cons:

  • Not at all suitable for early-mid game progression
  • Requires manual defensive measures
  • Danger from Barbarians all the time.

Blogs Best Endgame Base Locations

Once you have progressed into the late-game sequence, that’s when the real SoulMask experience really starts. Now that you have advanced weapons, trained tribesmen, and robust armor, you are ready to acquire the last remining masks and complete the saga. However, it also means that you must relocate the base camp one last time before you really become the king of the wild. Fortunately, we have found the perfect endgame base location in SoulMask where you can find almost everything you will need for your advanced recipes:

Endgame Base

This final location is located on the far edge of the game map, what did you expect for an endgame location? The beauty of setting up a base camp here is that you get access to all the exotic resources including steel and mask nodes. However, get ready to face some of the toughest Barbarians and snow leopards right at your doorsteps.

Pros:

  • Plenty of rare and exotic resources
  • High-tier game and Elite animals
  • Home to Eagles and Snow Leopards
  • Nearby Teleporter and Ancient Ruins
  • A mix of desert, mountain, pasture, and lakeside
  • Best place to grind XP

Cons:

  • Recommended Strength Level 50+
  • Danger awaits around every corner
  • High-level Barbarians all around the area
  • Requires extensive defense works.

Blogs How to Shift SoulMask Base Camp?

Best Locations Relocate

You may have noticed that we spoke about relocating your base at different game phases. Well, currently, the game allows you to create 3x Bonfires at any place, making it possible to create and manage 3 different bases. But what if you want to completely shift the base, along with all your belongings, and of course, the tribesmen?

Unfortunately, the current SoulMask patch doesn’t have the shift base option like the one we saw in VRising. However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t shift the base, even though it consumes several hours of traveling back n forth. Basically, the only way to relocate your SoulMask base is to retrieve or dismantle all your buildings, go to the new base site, and start building everything from scratch.

The best way to use this method is to either choose a site near one of the teleporters or simply retrieve everything and select Respawn to drop your deathbag on any desired location. Oh, and you can only use this method in single player servers, and you must first lay down the new camp’s Bonfire to Respawn at the new location.

Finally, there is no way to relocate your tribesmen without carrying them to the new base one by one. So, the most efficient technique is to take only the good ones and recruit new tribe members for your new camp.

Blogs Conclusion

A good SoulMask base location goes a long way into the game. It solves your problem of finding crafting resources, rare materials, and even recruiting high-tier tribesmen. However, a miscalculated base will definitely worsen your gameplay experience, until you decide to pack your stuff and move to a better site. Hopefully, this article has guided you in everything you need to know about SoulMask best base locations, and how to choose them.
